Chapter 57 - Chapter 57 Brooches

*

"Who are you?" Jenny instinctively assumed a protective stance.

The young knight had an extraordinary bearing, with sharp, heroic eyebrows and a scholarly air about him, clearly indicating that he came from a prestigious noble family.

However, Jenny didn't know him.

"Miss Jenny, take a look at this." The knight took out a pin with the Westerling family crest on it.

"Are you a friend of Sir Ador Saloth?"

"Yes!"

This brooch was a token exchanged between Ador and Earl Gavin when Ador proposed. At the time, Earl Gavin agreed to Ador's proposal, but it was a private promise between them and not made public. Earl Gavin hadn't formally consulted Jenny's opinion, and since Duke Tywin was Jenny's adopted daughter, Earl Gavin hadn't had a chance to tell Duke Tywin about it.

"I'm sorry, Sir, I am already engaged to Gregor Clegane. Please convey my apologies to Sir Ador. I will have my father return the tokens of our love."

"Miss Jenny, Sir Ador Saloth is waiting for you at the hilltop watchtower."

"Aren't there any guards on the watchtower?"

"Please rest assured, Miss. It's peacetime now, and there haven't been any soldiers on the watchtower for a long time. The Lannister soldiers are all drinking tonight! They won't return to their camp without drinking."

"I'm sorry, knight, I cannot go to the watchtower to see Sir Ador."

Close relationships were prevalent among the nobles of the seven kingdoms.

Robert Baratheon, King of the Seven Kingdoms, fell for Delinea Floren, a bridesmaid, at the wedding of his younger brother Stannis Baratheon. The two slept together, using the bed that Stannis had used for his wedding.

Delinea Floren was the cousin of Stannis Baratheon's newlywed wife, in the presence of Robert's wife Cersei. Robert still made Delinea his close companion, and they conceived a bastard son, Edric Storm, in their wedding bed.

Oberyn Martell, the Red Viper of Dorne, had an affair with the mistress of Lord Ormond Erenwood, who guarded the most important pass on the Dorne border, when he was sixteen years old. As a result, the Earl challenged Oberyn to a duel.

Oberyn was a prince and only sixteen years old, so the Earl of Ellenwood decided to duel to stop when blood was drawn, and both were wounded. A few days later, the Earl of Ormond died from his festering wounds. People believed that Oberyn had coated his sword with snake venom, and from then on, Oberyn was known as "The Red Viper".

From kings and princes to ordinary knights, many nobles and knights were willing to duel to the death for the sake of intimacy. This was a kind of aristocratic culture that prevailed in this world.

Ador Saloth asked one of his closest noble knight friends to deliver a message for him, hoping to make Jenny his lover tonight.

He knew Jenny liked him and had feelings for him; that was his confidence.

Jenny refused the knight's invitation and urged the young knight to leave immediately, warning that if Gregor Clegane found out, he and Adoo would both be killed.

The knight smiled slightly, unfazed by Jenny's warning. Gregor was indeed infamous, but for the young knights who possessed great strength and had never suffered any loss or been deceived, and who were completely unaware of the wickedness of the world, they utterly despised the vicious dog Gregor.

The phrase "ignoring the immensity of heaven and earth" perfectly describes this group of noble youths who come from prestigious families, have everything go their way, have never experienced war, and think they are invincible.

"Alright, Miss Jenny, may I see your Reese the Cat? I'll just take a look and leave," the young knight said with elegant manners.

Although Jenny felt uneasy, she agreed at the other party's polite request, and because the other party was interested in her beloved Reese the cat: "Knight, you'd better not touch it, it's asleep."

The young knight then walked up to Jenny, his face beaming with delight: "My goodness, what a beautiful and noble Rhys cat! Only such an adorable creature is worthy of Miss Jenny's radiance." The young man was quite eloquent, showering her with praise, which made Jenny's heart flutter with joy.

"Miss Jenny, you haven't been to the observation tower on the mountaintop yet, have you? It's so beautiful and pleasant to go up there at night to see the night view and the bright moon over the sea. It's a very, very short walk to the top."

Tywin's main castle is close to the watchtower on the hilltop, and the Duke's residence is located at the highest point in the city, indeed very close to the mountaintop.

Miss Jenny said, "Sir, I would also like to go up and see the night view, but not tonight. Please tell Sir Ador that I thank him for thinking so highly of me. I am already engaged to Gregor Clegane, and that is a fact that no one can change."

"Miss Jenny, the Mountain is not good enough for you. Sir Adorno is a young hero, not only unmarried but also without a mistress. You are the first beautiful woman he has ever set his sights on. Come with me. Gregor will be drunk tonight, and he will never know about you and Adorno."

Jenny shook her head firmly: "Knight, you should leave now. I won't go to the mountaintop with you tonight."

"Alright!" The boy squatted down and gently stroked the fur of the sleeping Angela. "Goodbye, Angela." He slowly and reluctantly stood up, took out a snow-white handkerchief from his pocket to wipe his hands, and suddenly covered Jenny's mouth and nose with the handkerchief.

Jenny struggled desperately, but the young knight's arms were strong and powerful. He held Jenny firmly with one hand and covered her mouth and nose with the other, making it impossible for her to breathe.

Jenny quickly lost consciousness.

The young knight entered Jenny's bedroom and found the black cloak that had been left there long ago under the window. He wrapped the cloak around Jenny, bent down and carried it on his back as if he were carrying a cloak himself.

He carried Jenny on his back with ease and slipped away.

Tonight, all the servants and soldiers of House Lannister are reveling, drinking, singing, and dancing until they're completely drunk.

A path leads straight to the top of the mountain. The path isn't long, and at the end of the path is the watchtower.
