Chapter 2: Officially TogetherWe sat on a bench with a large scoop of cookies and cream."So, do you like it?" Keifer asked."Like it? No, I love it," I said, happily taking a scoop."Keifer...." I started, my voice suddenly small."Hmm?""I... I wanted to tell you something."He turned to me, his gaze warm and patient. "What is it, Jay?"I took a deep breath, my heart hammering against my ribs. "I want us to be... official."Keifer let out a long breath, looking relieved. "Oh, you want us to be—" He froze. "Wait, what did you say?""I said I want us to be official," I repeated, clearer this time.Without a word, he pulled me into a tight hug and kissed my forehead. When he pulled back, he didn't stop there. He leaned in, his lips meeting mine in a soft, tentative kiss. My brain short-circuited for a second before I melted into it, kissing him back.When we finally broke apart, he rested his forehead against mine. "This is the best day of my life," he whispered."You're blushing," he teased."I am... not! It's just the heat!""The heat? Or the fact that I'm hot?""Gago!" I laughed, shoving him lightly."Profanity," he smirked, leaning in for another. I backed away, teasing him. "You've had your kiss, Watson!""Come on, Jay... just one more. I promise, only one.""Fine," I relented.That "one" kiss lasted longer than either of us expected. When we finally surfaced for air, he looked at me with so much sincerity it hurt."Jasper Jean Mariano Fernandez Watson, I will love you until scientists find the end of the universe.""I love you too, Mark Keifer Watson," I replied, smiling through the heat in my face.
