Chapter 49: The Drama of Section E
(Jay Jay's POV)
If someone had told me that coming back to school would be more chaotic than surviving gang wars, I would have laughed at them.
Now?
I wasn't laughing.
Because Section E had officially entered full dramatic mode.
The class was supposed to be quiet.
The teacher had clearly said:
"One more word and everyone stays after class."
Which normally would scare students.
But this was Section E.
So obviously…
It lasted about thirty seconds.
Blaster leaned back in his chair again.
Blaster:
"I'm telling you guys."
He pointed dramatically at Keifer and me.
Blaster:
"They definitely joined the mafia."
Felix gasped like he had just discovered the truth of the universe.
Felix:
"THAT'S WHY THEY DISAPPEARED."
Calix snapped his fingers.
Calix:
"OH MY GOD."
Ci N slammed his hand on the desk.
Ci N:
"IT MAKES SENSE."
The entire class turned toward us again.
I slowly rubbed my temple.
Jay:
"You people need therapy."
Keifer leaned toward me.
Keifer:
"They're not completely wrong."
Jay:
"Stop helping them."
Meanwhile Rory stood up like a lawyer presenting evidence.
Rory:
"Your Honor, I would like to present Exhibit A."
He pointed at us.
Rory:
"They vanished for three weeks."
Drew raised his hand.
Drew:
"Exhibit B."
He looked at Keifer.
Drew:
"He looks like someone who could run a mafia."
Keifer blinked.
Keifer:
"…Thank you?"
Eman dramatically pointed at me.
Eman:
"Exhibit C."
Eman:
"Jay Jay came back with an entire bag of snacks."
Eran nodded seriously.
Eran:
"Clearly smuggling operations."
The teacher slammed the desk again.
Teacher:
"WHAT DID I SAY ABOUT TALKING?"
Josh raised his hand politely.
Josh:
"We're investigating a mystery."
Teacher:
"DETENTION."
Josh sat down slowly.
Josh:
"Worth it."
Meanwhile the classroom drama continued like a courtroom trial.
Ci N stood up again.
Ci N:
"I would like to question the suspects."
The teacher pointed at him.
Teacher:
"Sit."
Ci N sat down dramatically.
Felix leaned forward.
Felix:
"So tell us the truth."
Calix narrowed his eyes.
Calix:
"Where were you two."
The entire class leaned closer.
Waiting.
Watching.
Keifer looked at me.
I looked at him.
Then I shrugged.
Jay:
"Family issues."
The class went silent.
Then Blaster stood up again.
Blaster:
"That's exactly what someone in the mafia would say."
The room exploded again.
"HE'S RIGHT!"
"THAT'S SUSPICIOUS!"
"THEY'RE HIDING SOMETHING!"
David finally stood up.
The most mature member of Section E.
The only voice of reason.
David:
"Everyone calm down."
The class actually quieted.
Because when David spoke, people listened.
David crossed his arms.
David:
"Let's use logic."
Felix nodded.
Felix:
"Yes."
David looked at Keifer and me calmly.
David:
"If they were in the mafia…"
He paused.
David:
"They wouldn't come back to school."
The class froze.
Processing.
Ci N slowly turned toward us.
Ci N:
"…He's right."
Blaster gasped.
Blaster:
"OR…"
He pointed dramatically.
Blaster:
"They came back to hide their secret identity."
The classroom erupted again.
I dropped my head on the desk.
Jay:
"This is exhausting."
Keifer laughed quietly beside me.
Keifer:
"You missed this."
Jay:
"No I didn't."
Meanwhile the chaos continued.
Eman leaned across three desks.
Eman:
"So are you two dating or not?"
Half the class turned again.
Felix whispered loudly.
Felix:
"They're definitely dating."
Calix nodded.
Calix:
"Obviously."
Denzel grinned.
Denzel:
"How long?"
Rory added dramatically.
Rory:
"Was the three-week disappearance a romantic getaway?"
The class gasped.
"ROMANTIC GETAWAY!"
"SCANDALOUS!"
Keifer leaned back in his chair.
Completely unfazed.
Keifer:
"This class is insane."
I turned toward him.
Jay:
"You're part of it."
Blaster suddenly stood on his chair.
Blaster:
"I DECLARE THIS A CLASS MEETING."
Teacher:
"GET DOWN."
Blaster sat down slowly.
Josh leaned toward Keifer.
Josh:
"Just admit it."
Keifer:
"Admit what."
Josh grinned.
Josh:
"That you two are the most dramatic couple in this school."
The class cheered.
I threw my hands in the air.
Jay:
"WE WERE GONE FOR THREE WEEKS."
Ci N pointed dramatically.
Ci N:
"EXACTLY."
Felix nodded.
Felix:
"That's peak drama."
David sighed again.
David:
"This is why teachers hate Section E."
At that exact moment…
The principal walked past the classroom.
And heard the screaming.
He stepped inside slowly.
Principal:
"…Why is someone standing on a desk."
Blaster froze.
Teacher pointed immediately.
Teacher:
"THEY STARTED IT."
The entire class pointed at us.
"THEY STARTED IT!"
"THEY DISAPPEARED!"
"THEY CAUSED THE DRAMA!"
The principal stared at Keifer and me.
Principal:
"You two were gone for three weeks."
Keifer nodded calmly.
Keifer:
"Yes sir."
Principal:
"And now the entire class is screaming."
I sighed.
Jay:
"That sounds accurate."
The principal rubbed his forehead.
Principal:
"Section E."
Everyone froze.
Principal:
"Be quiet."
Silence.
Complete silence.
Then he walked out.
The moment the door closed—
Blaster whispered.
Blaster:
"Still mafia."
The class burst into laughter again.
I leaned back in my chair.
Jay:
"Three weeks."
Keifer looked at me.
Keifer:
"What."
Jay:
"Three weeks ago we were surviving assassins."
Keifer nodded.
Jay:
"And now we're surviving Section E."
He laughed.
Keifer:
"Honestly?"
Jay:
"What."
Keifer:
"This might be more dangerous."
Across the room Ci N shouted again.
Ci N:
"SNACK BREAK!"
And somehow…
