Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Emilia's POV

I sat on my couch, staring blankly at the wall as my mind wandered to Adrian. It had been days since I'd last seen him, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of loneliness. I knew he was busy, what with his family's wealth and influence, and his own business dealings. He was always attending meetings and events, rubbing shoulders with other wealthy and powerful people.

But even knowing that, I couldn't help but miss him. I missed his smile, his laugh, his warm and gentle touch. I missed our conversations, our debates, our silly jokes. I even missed the way he always knew how to make me feel better when I was down.

I sat there, lost in thought, my mind began to wander back to all the good times we'd shared. I remembered the way he'd taken me to the art museum, and how we'd spent hours discussing the different pieces on display. I remembered the way he'd surprised me with a picnic in the park, and how we'd laughed and talked until the sun went down.

I smiled to myself, feeling a warmth spread through my chest. Those were the moments that made life worth living, and I knew that I wanted to spend many more moments like that with Adrian.

But as I sat there, lost in my thoughts, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Adrian had been acting strange lately, distant and preoccupied. And I couldn't help but wonder if everything was okay.

My heart skipped a beat as I read the text from Adrian. "Meet me at the park at 5pm," it said. I couldn't believe it. Finally, after days of not seeing him, I would get to spend time with him again. I felt like I was walking on air, my feet barely touching the ground.

"Yes!!" I exclaimed out loud, pumping my fist in the air. I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and joy. I had been feeling so down and lonely without Adrian, but now I felt like I was on top of the world. "I wanna cut through the cloud, break the ceilings," I sang to myself, twirling around my room. "I wanna cut through the feeling..." I felt like I was unstoppable, like nothing could bring me down.

I quickly glanced at the clock and saw that I had just enough time to get ready. I rushed to my closet and pulled out a beautiful yellow sundress that I knew Adrian loved. I slipped it on and felt like a million bucks. I sprayed some perfume on my wrists and neck, feeling the sweet scent fill the air. I tied my hair up in a bun, feeling like a elegant and sophisticated woman.

As I finished getting ready, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nervous excitement. What did Adrian have planned for us? Was it a romantic picnic or a surprise gift? I couldn't wait to find out. I grabbed my purse and headed out the door, feeling like I was floating on air.

I walked into the park, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. I had been waiting for what felt like an eternity to see Adrian again, and I couldn't wait to spend time with him. I scanned the parking lot, my eyes searching for Adrian's car. And then, I saw it. His sleek, black vehicle was parked in a quiet corner of the lot, and I could see him sitting inside.

I quickened my pace, my heart racing with excitement. I reached the car and knocked on the window, and it whined down, revealing Adrian's handsome face. I smiled, feeling a rush of happiness, and opened the door to slide inside. I wrapped my arms around him, hugging him tightly, expecting him to return the hug. But he didn't. Instead, he just sat there, his arms limp at his sides.

I let go of him, feeling a pang of confusion and concern. I looked at him, expecting to see a smile or a twinkle in his eye. But instead, I saw a look of sadness and worry etched on his face. He didn't look like himself, and I could sense that something was wrong.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I asked, my voice soft and gentle. I reached out to touch his arm, but he didn't respond. He just sat there, staring straight ahead, his eyes fixed on some point in the distance. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I realized that something was seriously wrong. Adrian was always happy to see me, always eager to talk and laugh together. But now, he seemed distant and preoccupied, and I couldn't help but wonder what was going on.

I felt like I had been punched in the gut as Adrian's words hung in the air. "I want to break up," he said, his voice flat and emotionless. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. What? Why? What did I do? I racked my brain, trying to think of anything I might have done to make him want to break up with me. But I couldn't think of anything.

I felt a wave of panic wash over me as I tried to process what was happening. "Adrian, what's going on?" I asked, my voice shaking. "Why do you want to break up? Did I do something wrong?" But he just shook his head, his eyes avoiding mine.

I felt a lump form in my throat as I realized that he wasn't going to give me any explanation. He wasn't going to tell me why he wanted to break up with me. He just wanted to end things, without even giving me a reason why.

I felt tears pricking at the corners of my eyes as I tried to ask him again. "Adrian, please," I said, my voice cracking. "Tell me what's going on. Why do you want to break up with me?" But he just shook his head again, his eyes still avoiding mine.

I felt a sob rising up in my throat as I realized that he was serious. He really wanted to break up with me. I felt like my heart was shattering into a million pieces as I asked him one final time. "Adrian, do you really want to break up with me?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

He nodded, his eyes finally meeting mine. "Yes," he said, his voice firm.

I felt like I had been punched in the gut all over again. I couldn't believe that he was really doing this. I couldn't believe that he was breaking up with me without even giving me a reason why.

I felt tears streaming down my face as I turned and got out of the car. I left the door open, letting the cool breeze wash over me as I stumbled away from the car. I couldn't believe what was happening. I couldn't believe it. So instead I started running as the cool breeze piled up tears in my eyes as I wiped them away to get a clearer vision as I kept running and running non stop.
