De Warden raised a brow.
The reaction was subtle, almost lazy, but the shift in the air was immediate. The officers who had been focused on Daniel suddenly had something far more concrete to latch onto.
A known threat.
Even so, they didn't let Daniel go.
Two of the three officers went up to De Warden cautiously, while the other remained by Daniel, making frantic calls.
"Mr. De, you're under arrest!" the officer repeated, louder this time, dragging attention, as if the more people heard it, the more likely he could apprehend a criminal like De Warden.
De Warden, on the other hand, didn't look surprised.
If anything, he looked amused.
"Under arrest?" he repeated, voice low, almost conversational, as though the words themselves entertained him. His gaze swept lazily over the officers, taking in the raised weapons, the tightened stances, the tension vibrating in their shoulders.
Then his eyes flicked briefly to Jenna, who was also staring at him.
