Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: The Trial of the Broken King

While Emon struggled to contain the djinns in the village, a deeper threat was brewing in the Void. The Shadow King had not been destroyed; he had been exiled to the 'In-Between,' a realm of absolute nothingness. There, he met the 'Original Weavers'—the entities who had crafted the first djinns from smokeless fire. They were not pleased. "You lost the Noor to a child," they hissed. "You have shamed the fire."

To regain his power, the Shadow King was forced to undergo the 'Trial of the Broken King.' He had to rip out his own essence and fuse it with the hatred of the souls Emon had 'saved' in previous chapters. The twist was that every time Emon used his magic for good, a small portion of resentment was born in those he saved—fear of his power, jealousy of his status. This 'Human Resentment' was the only thing that could dim the light of the Sword of Noor.

Back in the village, Emon was failing. He tried to reason with a djinn who was turning the forest into glass. "Stop this! This is not freedom!" Emon shouted. The djinn turned, his eyes cold. "Why should we listen? You are just a boy with a stolen sword." Suddenly, the air turned freezing. Black snow began to fall from a clear sky. The Shadow King was returning, but he wasn't alone. He was riding a beast made of pure human spite. Emon realized that the djinns weren't the biggest problem; the problem was that the people of the village were now looking at Emon with terror, not gratitude. Their fear was feeding the Shadow King's new form.
