I turned to see a figure cloaked in shadows. Who are you? I asked.
The figure stepped forward, revealing a man with piercing green eyes. My name is not important, he said. What is important is that you have made a grave mistake.
I bristled at his words. How dare you, I said. I am the God of Death, and my judgment is final.
The man smiled. Is it? he asked. Or did you simply follow your heart, rather than the evidence?
I felt a surge of anger. What do you mean? I demanded.
The man gestured to the spot where the orb had been. That soul you sent to Heaven, he said. Did you know it had committed a terrible crime, one that went unpunished in life?
I hesitated. No, I said. I did not see that in its memories.
The man nodded. Exactly, he said. And that is why your judgment was flawed. You must consider all the evidence, not just what you see.
I felt a pang of doubt. Could this man be right? Had I made a mistake?
What should I do? I asked him.
The man smiled again. I will show you, he said. Come with me.
