Chapter 121:
The next second
"New York? Again New York?"
Yang Jian's soul stood on the familiar street and couldn't help but curl his lips.
But he quickly noticed the differences. The architectural lines here were more modern, and the pedestrians' clothing styles were particularly fashionable.
The silhouette of Stark Tower in the distance seemed rounder?
He floated higher into the sky, wanting a clearer view, but suddenly felt a strange attractive force.
The rules of this universe seemed to have a special reaction to his soul state.
"Interesting."
Without continuing to explore deeper, Yang Jian chose to temporarily retreat back to the bubble space.
Before leaving, he took one last look at this peculiar universe and memorized its coordinates.
On the balcony, Yang Jian suddenly opened his eyes.
"Wow!"
Mikaela's face was right in front of him. She was gently poking his cheek with her finger, her big eyes full of curiosity.
Seeing him suddenly wake up, she was so startled she almost fell off the lounge chair.
"Yang, you're awake!"
She awkwardly withdrew her hand. "I just wanted to see what you were doing!"
Wanda, beside them, covered her mouth and laughed, shaking her head helplessly: "She insisted on studying why you could sleep standing up. I couldn't stop her."
Yang Jian blinked, the corner of his mouth curving into a mysterious smile.
"I've found the destination."
"Where?" the two girls asked in unison.
Yang Jian spread his arms and stretched his muscles: "A place that's different from ours."
As he spoke, he deliberately dragged out the words.
"But before that."
He reached out and ruffled Mikaela's hair, teasing her on purpose.
"Next time, don't casually poke a Superman's face. What if I reflexively punch you while dreaming?"
Mikaela smiled sweetly and pointed at herself: "You wouldn't hit me anyway!"
Wanda had already walked over, even changing into her battle suit: "So what kind of world is it exactly?"
A playful glint flashed in Yang Jian's eyes: "A universe with a completely different art style from ours."
Sunlight lazily bathed the balcony, a gentle breeze blowing.
Wanda and Mikaela stood in front of Yang Jian, their eyes full of anticipation and curiosity.
"Wait!" Mikaela suddenly raised her hand.
"Don't rush yet."
Wanda tilted her head, her red hair swaying slightly: "What else do we need to do?"
Yang Jian also looked at Mikaela, wondering what she wanted to say.
Mikaela stepped closer, her eyes sparkling.
"I want to know how you cross universes? Do you just charge into a black hole like in the movies?"
She made an exaggerated explosion gesture. "Wouldn't you get torn apart that way?"
Yang Jian couldn't help laughing: "Of course not."
He waved his hand, and a golden energy ripple appeared in the air, slowly spreading like water waves.
"Crossing parallel universes isn't simple spatial jumping. It requires precise energy control."
He explained, "The crude method of black holes is only suitable for those brute-force types who don't understand technology."
Wanda reached out thoughtfully: "So you directly tear open space?"
"Pretty much."
Yang Jian nodded and continued, "But more accurately, it's finding the gap between two universes and then…"
He lightly slashed with his hand. A portal suddenly cracked open in the air, its edges flickering with golden energy patterns.
On the other side of the portal was not darkness, but countless flowing lights and shadows, as if thousands of galaxies were flowing within.
This was another type of portal, casually opened by Yang Jian.
Mikaela's eyes widened: "Whoa! This is way cooler than a black hole!"
"Of course," Yang Jian smiled.
"A black hole would only crush you, while this…"
He pointed at the rift, "is a controllable passage."
Wanda stared at the inside of the rift. Her Chaos Magic energy flickered slightly as she tried to analyze its structure.
"I can feel some kind of resonance."
"Your Chaos Magic itself involves dimensional power," Yang Jian nodded.
"So you're more sensitive to this kind of energy."
Mikaela blinked: "What about me? I don't have magic. Will I get disintegrated the moment I go in?"
Yang Jian reached out and ruffled her hair. "Don't worry. I'll wrap you both in my bio-field. I guarantee not even a single hair will be missing."
Wanda suddenly thought of something and narrowed her eyes.
"Wait, when you crossed universes alone before, did you never consider comfort?"
Yang Jian shrugged: "I'm immortal. Crossing with my physical body is no problem."
Mikaela: "..."
Wanda: "..."
Both of them rolled their eyes at the same time.
"Alright." Yang Jian smiled and extended his hand.
"Ready?"
Wanda took a deep breath and held Yang Jian's hand.
"Let's go!"
Although Mikaela was a bit unwilling, she still waved.
"Remember to bring me souvenirs!"
Yang Jian nodded. His bio-field instantly expanded, wrapping him and Wanda in a thin layer of pale golden energy.
"Hold on tight."
The next second, their figures blurred and were instantly swallowed by the rift.
Mikaela stood in place, watching the rift slowly close and finally disappear without a trace.
"Next time it will definitely be me!" She clenched her fist, full of fighting spirit.
......
Another Universe
New York
Electronic billboards in Times Square were playing news about Stark Industries.
Suddenly, a dazzling golden light exploded in the middle of a certain intersection.
Pedestrians screamed and backed away. Several office workers dropped their coffee cups with a clatter.
"Oh my god! What is that?"
"A new trick from the superheroes?"
The golden portal slowly rotated. Yang Jian stepped out first.
The muscular contours under his black battle suit made several women nearby unconsciously hold their breath. One office lady with glasses even adjusted her frames, her throat bobbing.
That physique was even more perfect than the models in fitness magazines!
Wanda followed closely behind, stepping out of the portal.
She curiously observed her surroundings. Her magic senses spread out, carefully probing the energy fluctuations of this new world.
The cosmic energy in the air is more active than in our world, but the structure is simpler?
She continued observing.
However, when she clearly saw the familiar chain store signs around her, her expectant expression instantly collapsed.
"New York again?"
"I thought we'd at least see some alien architecture."
Yang Jian's eyes flashed with faint golden light as his super vision pierced through countless buildings.
"Let me see what kind of world this is!"
Soon, he found the information he wanted.
He saw Tony Stark. He saw the S.H.I.E.L.D. Triskelion building.
He saw young Peter Parker on his way home. At this point in time, he obviously hadn't become Spider-Man yet.
Yang Jian smiled faintly. As expected, it was the movie universe, on the eve of the Battle of New York in 2012.
"This is another parallel universe," Yang Jian explained to Wanda.
"It's roughly the same as our world, but with some differences."
Wanda tilted her head: "What do you mean?"
"You can think of it as a simplified version of our universe." Yang Jian smiled.
The movie universe was indeed simplified. Many superheroes hadn't appeared yet, so calling it a simplified version wasn't wrong.
Wanda nodded thoughtfully: "So what do we do next?"
Yang Jian thought for a moment: "Let's just wander around New York for now."
Wanda shrugged: "Okay."
She linked her arm with Yang Jian's. "Then let's go."
The crowd of onlookers automatically parted to make way, watching this extraordinary pair walk away slowly.
Several young people secretly raised their phones to take pictures, but found they couldn't capture their faces clearly no matter what.
Yang Jian's bio-field automatically interfered with electronic devices. No one could photograph their specific appearance.
They strolled along Fifth Avenue. Wanda curiously observed the shops on the street.
"It really is very similar to our world."
She pointed at a dessert shop. "Even the decor of this shop is almost the same."
