At a small bench in a large mall, three people are discussing the nature of the parasites.
Maxy speaks up:
"That thing that attacked and ate you, that's what's called a parasite, they're made from... what we think is the greatly deconstructed corpses of the things it swallows, primarily humans."
The girl comments:
"So that thing... it was trying to rip me to pieces?!"
Brian walks forward:
"Not exactly, you see...
If it wanted to deconstruct you, you would have already been dead.
It's actual goal was infecting you, and then studying you..."
"...Explain."
"We don't know for certain, but parasites might have a hivemind, every thought we have, every step we take, every sound we make.
If a parasite notices this action, it and every other parasite records that in it's mind, however, it cannot do that without stepping IN to someone's mind, that's why..."
The girl ponders for a few seconds:
"It infected me so it could study my actions..."
Maxy answers:
"Exactly!"
The girl stares at the two of them. Clearly not trusting a word they say:
"You're saying a lot of facts, but you're not really convincing me that it's not a bunch of nothing."
Brian sighs and looks at maxy, maxy gives a nod and brian steps up once again:
"Do you remember how you were born?"
The girl's expression widens:
"What?
Obviously, it was my mother who-"
Silence, for a whole minute, no one talked. Untill Maxy interupted:
"Try to remember what your mother looked like."
"I... can't, but... I know..."
"We neglected to mention it, but the parasite has another effect.
The people it infects, slowly get erased from reality."
Brian continues:
"We don't exactly have a logical ecplanation for it, but our guess is that the parasite, in an attempt to study us, strips us from our senses, then the memories of us, followed by our own memories and then our bodies."
The girl sheds a few tears, before eventually stepping up:
"I... I understand now. Take me with you."
Maxy jumps in the air:
"You won't regret it, but please take it easy. You're... clearly not looking great."
The girl doesn't say anything, she just walks forward, Brian is already a few stretches ahead of them.
As the three of them exit the building, the cold breeze in the air flows.
"Aaaahhhh!!! Finally, air! How I've longed for you." Maxy comments
The girl chuckles a little. After a few seconds, she comments:
"What are your names, actually?"
Brian makes a cool pose:
"My-"
Maxy interupts Brian immediately after he realises that he made a cool pose:
"I'm maxy, and this is brian. How about you?"
"My name's bree, nice to meet you!"
Brian comments:
"Hey?! Why didn't I get to say it?!"
Maxy continues:
"Because you watched so many of those crazy dvd's that you'd start making up cooler names and act all dramatic about it!"
"No I wouldn't!"
Brian and maxy chase eachother the whole way back to the headquarters. Bree can't help but laugh a little at the situation.
And yet... they only have 40 days to live.
