Chapter 2 - The Beginning of a Long Task 2

I just lied there, the listening to my raging heartbeat and smiled widely, the widest smile ever. Maybe I can finally dream again.

Then I opened the inventory and pulled out the message

[Dear user, here is the last bit of information you'll need:

-Time is frozen in any unopened room

-Upon leaving, you can never return here

-You cannot raise your level here

-Any raise you do using your stat points will be then set to the new starting stats

-You can get skills, traits and resistances by doing specific actions

-You will not be able to leave the area provided for you nor contact anyone

-The empty room is infinitely large and idesctructable

-After reading this message, every rood involving magic will be inacessible (dissapear) untill properly attaining the needed knowledge and skills that do not use magic]

Well that's fun, guess I'll be lonely, but guess what, I was always lonely, had at most 2 friends at a time, so that's nothing new

Guess it's time to slowly use my other gift, the resistance books, so I pulled them out

They were 'Poison resistance', 'blunt damage resistance' and 'fatigue resistance'

[Resistance skill book: Poison resistance

Description: lowers the duration and effect of any debuff given by a poisonous, toxic material, gas, liquid, object

Open to use]

[Resistance skill book: Fatigue resistance

Description: Lowers the stamina consumption rate, buffs the ability to focus

Open to use]

[Resistance skill book: Blunt damage resistance

Description: lowers the damage received from blunt objects

Open to use]

I opened them all no question asked

[Congratulations on receiving Poison resistance, Fatigue resistance, Blunt damage resistance]

And I checked their effects in my status

[skill: Poison resistance lv.1

Effect: Lowers the duration of a poison by 1% and weakens the effect by 1%]

[Skill: Fatigue resistance lv.1

Effect: Lowers the stamina consumption rate by 1%, buffs the ability to focus by 1%]

[Skill: Blunt damage resistance

Description: lowers the damage received from blunt objects by 1%]

.

.

What did I expect from the system.

Well, at least I got them. Plus it clearly says 'lv.1' on all 3, meaning their levels can be raised, not sure by how much though.

I guess I increase their levels by getting poisoned, fatigued and getting hit by blunt things…does my fist count?

I raised my fist and hit myself, but it was kind weak

Nope, I don't dare to hit myself at full force…yet, who knows what the future holds for me.

For now let's familiarize with every necessary resource room in the 'harvesting' section

First I need to find iron, copper, tin ore, also clay, dunno about stone, also I'll need to think about wood too

As I kept thinking, the list increased and increased, but I shook my head and went in.

In each ore room I found a bookshelf filled with books as well as a wall made of stall which was breakable, a system prompt told me that.

As for the clay room, no rooms, I never knew there were so many type of clays, but still each one had a well by the side, well, most, I found a few where the clay was already ready, I just needed to get it out of the ground.

So I did and started using it as my notepad, till I get a better option at least.

Then I went on to read, I went from room to room, gobbling up all the knowledge I could and it was fun actually, for once in my life there wasn't a manager nagging at me or the buzzing sounds that distract me, I even started singing

Well, more like humming, but still, never knew silence could be so oppressive

But that didn't stop me from enjoying my time here, I never knew I needed this so much.

I mean don't get me wrong, I miss technologies, especially music, especially that, since I sometimes get tired of the constant silence.

As for sleep, my routine is this, I wake up, go to read, after getting bored of reading I star digging clay, using a stick I broke off a tree if needed, then I make flat plates of similar size, go back to reading while writing down a codename for the book and the page.

For example 'HOI4,8, 48' is 'Harvesting, ore - iron, row from the bottom: 4, book from the right:8, page:48', well, that's how the code works, pretty fun.

I use a smaller stick to draw out everything, now I understand how the greek alphabet was formed.

Once I ran out of note space, I get more and pass out reading, before waking up, but I need some cloth, fast.

Why?

Because the damn floor is cold, and hard, and cloth Is the fastest solution to better sleep.

My bed is currently the stone floor, but I put a plank I painstakingly made after an arduous process.

By process I mean I found an obsidian room, managed to get a pretty big piece stuck in my left quad after I tried hitting the obsidian wall to perhaps get a shard, pulled it out, licked off the blood, cut my tongue.

How stupid of me

Then I found a shorter oak tree, which I chopped down after over trying to cut and hit It for over 2 days with the obsidian shard, succeeded in getting a log piece a bit longer than my shoulderwidth.

Then I started to try and separate it into three pieces, tried to use the obsidian piece like a froe, failed, then I used the crack I made to wedge a stick I sharpened, then after a while I succeeded in getting a flat plank.

After that was smoothing, I rubbed the plank against the coarsest rocks I could find, then moved on to rubbing sand onto it.

And after 10 of hard labor I got myself a wood pillow, now I no longer wake up with a sore neck and instead an aching scalp, even started balding there but who cares, I'm alone and naked.

For context, one day is from when I wake up to when I fall asleep

The rooms are always lit, so I built myself a small clay hut to sleep in to block the light, plus if I close it after leaving, I hope eventually it'll get warmer inside.

Just know that my fatigue resistance is lv.3 now, be envious, I use up stamin 3% slower now.

That's now the only boon, I also got 'cold resistance, v1' (lower how much cold can effect me by 1%) and 'pain resistance lv1' (lowers how much pain affects me by 1%).

And my best creation so far, the date counter, a slab collection marking how long I have been here, in my day metric, which is over 40 by now, yes there is a lot of books to read and memorise.

The note taking helps a ton, since when revising, it's easier to find key points, but still it's taking forever.

One thing to share, I still haven't gotten over the lack of technology, though I lost the habit to eat and drink.

After over 80 days of pure grinding and leveling skills, I activated the 150 hour voucher and immediately tools appeared in every room, be it pickaxes, axes, furnaces, tongs, adzes, knives, even stuff like yarn or glue, which I would've needed to make, appeared.

So I started rushing, I didn't sleep as I made a charcoal furnace, made a pickaxe, then smithing tools, those are top priority, which I made in 4 days, trial and error, even if I know the theory, practice isn't theory.

Then I made an axe, a spare pickaxe, clothes for when I forge, sandpaper, knives, dyes, started making fertilizer by dumping plants in big box I made with pieces of dirt in it, waiting to rot.

Most importantly I made two pillows (two pieces of silk fabric sown together and feathers inside each), a mattress (Wood frame, which I covered with a woll, then cotton fabric and stuff it full of wool and a blanked (same as the pillows, but more fabric, and I used cotton).

After the timer was up, I feel into my bed and slept like a baby before waking up and I decided to stay in bed for once.

Time to check my stats I guess.
