Luellen looked at Nathan with a steely gaze. Her cab did get stopped, and she had to present papers for her formal acquisition of the house. On their way there, Houston even had to get Luellen to call the agent just so they could enter the neighborhood. Without her in the car, how would Leander enter?
Moreover…
"Do you live here, Mr Chrome?" Luellen glanced at the white convertible for any stickers. "Is that why you can enter without trouble?"
"Not me. My dad does." Nathan patted the seat. "I'm on my way out. If you really can't be bothered to be ferried by me, I can at least drop you off at the guard house. Would you rather walk? It's quite far from here."
Luellen stared at the car. She glanced at the lonesome road filled with big houses. Her fists balled tighter… before she pulled her handbag closer. She only smiled steely at him. "I guess I'll just walk. My legs aren't too tired from working. Thanks for the information, Mr Chrome. Please go on ahead."
