Halloween was at the end of October, less than a month away. Kate decided to seek out the Mirror of Erised first to scout the situation.
In the original works, Harry found this mirror in an abandoned classroom.
However, for the past month, Kate and Hermione had been taking walks in the castle after meals every day, and they hadn't seen this mirror in any abandoned classroom.
As far as Kate knew, Dumbledore would move the magic mirror to an abandoned classroom before Christmas, then wait for Harry to find it.
This was also his test for Harry; he wanted to see what Harry desired in his heart.
A few days after that, the Mirror of Erised would be moved to the underground room guarded by the three-headed dog, becoming the final barrier protecting the Philosopher's Stone.
Wait until after Christmas to look?
At that time, the magic mirror would be under Dumbledore's full surveillance. She feared that if anyone approached, he would know immediately.
Even though she respected Old Man Dumbledore from the bottom of her heart, Kate didn't want him silently watching from the shadows while the mirror reflected her heart.
In her previous life, she had many distracting thoughts: becoming rich overnight, getting something for nothing, or living a bit longer.
But once she transmigrated in this life, those distracting thoughts had basically been realized.
So, even if she knew she had thoughts, she wasn't sure what her deepest desire—the one the mirror would reflect—actually was.
Being monitored while in an uncertain state was a very dangerous thing.
So... she could only find the magic mirror ahead of time, before it was moved to the abandoned classroom?
Kate remembered that the mirror had been stored in the Room of Requirement before.
This was a magical room that, whenever it appeared, was arranged to exactly meet the seeker's needs.
As long as she did a good job of concealment and successfully entered the Room of Requirement, she could see what she desired most in the depths of her heart in advance.
In the future, when facing Old Man Dumbledore, she would be able to act with a clear target.
Having made her plans for what came next, Kate first got up and took a shower. Only after she was fully awake did she go to the Great Hall for breakfast.
After the wizard duel, the attitude of the Slytherin little snakes toward her wasn't so unfriendly anymore, but at most, it was just ignoring her.
Aside from having to deal with Malfoy—that guy who would fixedly bicker with her every day—Kate also found some peace and quiet.
As for whether being isolated and cold-shouldered would make one feel down?
Ha, she was someone who could stay home as a shut-in for ten years; would she be afraid of this level of loneliness?
Moreover, just because people from the Snake House ignored her didn't mean people from other Academies couldn't talk to her.
For example...
She was only halfway through breakfast today when she was dragged out of the Great Hall by the overly familiar Savior duo.
If not for Hermione being right there, she definitely would have used her wand to poke these two little lions until they screamed.
The four of them walked in the corridor. Kate looked at these two little fellows with disdain and unconsciously leaned closer to Hermione.
"What business do you have with me?"
Harry didn't mind her attitude at all and asked seriously, "Shafiq, did you and Hermione encounter a three-headed dog in the room on the fourth-floor corridor yesterday?"
She guessed Hermione would exchange information with them.
Pretending to frown in difficulty, Kate hesitated for a moment before saying, "Why do you ask?"
"We mean no harm, you don't need to be so guarded," Ron whispered from the side.
"Right, we're just very curious!" Harry hurriedly added.
"Hermione said she saw a trapdoor under the three-headed dog's paws at the time, so we wanted to confirm it with you."
Clearly, he wanted to confirm more than just that.
Kate knitted her brows, remaining silent.
"Well..." Harry pulled secretly at the corner of Hermione's robes in some embarrassment, looking at her pleadingly with his emerald eyes.
Helpless, Hermione could only advise her in a low voice, "Kate, they aren't sure if what I saw in the chaos was real, so they wanted to verify it with you."
Since even Hermione had spoken up, Kate couldn't keep a straight face. "Alright, but I want to confirm—what you care about is the thing the three-headed dog is guarding, right?"
Harry was stunned. He was certain that when he went to Gringotts vault 713 with Hagrid during the summer vacation to retrieve the item, only he had followed along.
Although he didn't know what it was, seeing Kate guess his thoughts so quickly really shocked him.
"That's right." He admitted it generously and recounted the story of the mysterious object transferred from Gringotts by Hagrid in full detail.
He also raised a question: what on earth was it that made Gringotts suffer a break-in and required a three-headed dog to guard it?
"It's either extremely precious or extremely dangerous," Ron speculated.
Harry nodded. "Or it accounts for both."
However, without knowing any other clues right now, aside from being able to determine that the mysterious object was only two inches long, he had no way of knowing anything else.
After listening to the two of them speculating one after another, Kate nodded in understanding and turned to look at Hermione. "Then are you also interested in the thing underneath?"
Hermione frowned. "Compared to that, I want to practice the spells you taught me."
They had almost fallen into danger last night precisely because her Disillusionment Charm wasn't good enough, necessitating Kate's escort.
In the final analysis, she was still too weak.
"Mmh." Kate raised an eyebrow and put her arm around her shoulder with feigned seriousness. "I also think that, rather than caring about these things, it's better to spend time improving oneself."
Saying that, she smiled apologetically at Harry. "Sorry, Student Potter, Hermione and I are going to the library. If you intend to study together, you can follow us."
Harry and Ron, these two average students, definitely didn't want to study even on a Sunday.
After repeatedly rejecting their library invitation, Ron finally voiced the complaint he had been holding back for a long time: "Why didn't they get into Ravenclaw?"
"Who knows? Maybe the Sorting Hat made a mistake." Harry shrugged.
Now that they had absolutely no way to find clues, what could they do besides study?
"By the way, I'm going to practice Quidditch," he suddenly remembered this matter. "Ron, what about you?"
Ron scrunched up his small face and looked at him with question marks all over. "You are betraying our friendship."
"Of course, you can also go to the library to write homework with them." Harry smiled teasingly and turned to leave.
He heard Ron's impotent fury behind him, and immediately after, saw him trot all the way to his side.
"Anywhere is fine—"
Ron said, "As long as you don't make me study with them. You know Shafiq has a problem with me."
Harry grinned, affectionately draping his arm around his shoulder. "Then let's go to the Quidditch pitch!"
