"What is the situation at the lab?' Bram inquired as he scanned through a report on his terminal. His eyes twitched a bit as his blank face cracked with a frown.
Though partially blind, Bram seemed able to conduct experiments, read reports, and live his life like nobody's business.
How he made it, Tan is still processing the possibility.
His shoulder-length ebony black hair speaks of narcissism, workaholism, and bitter coffee as food. His light honey complexion exuded a beauteous image and sexiness, as he flipped the documents with hidden frustration.
"Of all the nasty creatures, why the crokun?' Bram Calmly muttered, his beautiful whitish pupils turned to his pad.
Tan presented a document, his expression rigid as ever. "The virus is still spreading at an alarming rate. According to the report from Planet of Mystical Beings, the corkuns are evolving with a dangerous high level of intelligence.
"Boring,' Bram sighed in exhaustion.
"But here is the best part: some people are now awakening with powers beyond logic.
Bram immediately turned to Tan.
"Elaborate,' Bram ordered, his whitish pupils gleaming.
Tan smirked. "They are powered, but people call them the elementist. Some have awakened with healing powers, or so I have heard, and every base and guild formed in all the planets has at least one to three healers within their fortress.
"Fucking cliques,' Bram snorted in amusement, his dark curls bouncing against his forehead as he threw his head back with a dark chuckle.
Tan gave a small smile as the corner of his mouth quirked up.
Both shared a knowing look. A cure is at hand, and they will make sure that they are the first to provide it.
Such an opportunity was never going to slip out of his fingers. Having the whole galaxy scramble to get a sip.
The crokun apocalypse just started a few months ago. No one had expected an ancient creature known as the "Zombies" to be spoken of only a few times in dusty, dirty books for the commoners to come to pass.
Everyone was busy running for their lives. Some were killed in the process of leaving the planets they were already on.
'Waste,' Bram snarled inwardly while looking so deep in thought and mischievous at the same time.
Tan looked at his boss with a raised eyebrow. He couldn't help but let himself drown in his alluring beauty.
The way his black lustrous hair sways against his forehead at his slightest movement, his whitish pupils that somehow look alluring and soul-capturing, his gleaming light honey tanned complexion that somehow made him look pale.
His stature is very androgynous and slender, with that natural hourglass waist that always presents itself on a tightly fitted black suit.
Yet Tan woke up from this poisonous load of charm his boss was emitting. He knew well enough what kind of evil this little boss of his is.
Bram Ashford is a personified monster. The man who wields power beyond his station.
The man was a walking chaos and disaster. Evil was his second nature, and he covered it with this goofy yet cold-looking rationality that looks so refined in one's eyes.
However, he can't deny the man's capabilities.
Bram is the brain of the galaxy itself. He is like a core of science and technology.
A man no one could take for granted, not even their tyrannical emperor.
"I will be attending the galactic meeting for a while, to see what those forsaken protectors have in store for this strange anomaly that is causing a galactic amorphous,' Bram casually grabbed his furred military coat from the armchair.
Tan watched as his boss slowly put on his coat. His slender, but willowy figure was covered.
'This workaholic….
Tan worried about Bram's condition as time passed. Suffering from both Anorexia nervosa and Asthma, together with partial blindness.
He felt that someday, Bram would collapse and may never wake up.
Tan immediately stopped himself from thinking stupid things any further.
But as he looked in those crazed eyes of his boss, he knew he had forgotten one fact. Bram doesn't care; he was ambitious and prideful. His interest comes before anything else, including his health.
"I don't need to sugarcoat it, capture any powered human or mystical creature. This is for the greater good of mankind and other planetary systems.
Tan internally rolled his eyes at his hypocritical statements.
'More like for your own benefits, boss.
"I can hear your thoughts, Tan,' Bram glared at him, at which Tan expressionlessly bowed in apology.
Bram sweetly gave a smile as he strode to the door.
"Expect it three days from now,' Tan bowed again, also wondering why he was bowing again.
"Good,' Bram smiled as he slowly walked out of the room.
.........
The murmurs were getting louder and louder. Leaders from all kinds of planets risked their lives to attend this urgent meeting. The voices were sounding more desperate than ever.
"This is very serious….
"Please help my planet…
"A cure is what we all need….
Kion tried to calm everyone down, with sweat running down his forehead now and then. He glanced at his superior, who sat quietly with calculating eyes.
'My Lord, why are you keeping quiet? I need help with these angry mobs,' Kion cried internally.
A voice so powerful that it shut every other voice crying for salvation up.
"The Unitary Federation was supposed to give us an update. It's been months now,' Zick jeered in contempt. "People and other beings are turning into disgusting creatures we have little or no knowledge of. Yet here we are doing nothing about it.
Some people had different emotions running deep within their core.
What Zick said was right, very reasonable to the point where they wondered why they were acting like beggars in a swage.
With a slight dark look, Zick smirked.
Zick loved the reactions on their faces. He was confident he could convince them to join his side. To ambitiously establish a new order in the entire galaxy. One he had dreamt of only in dreams.
Despite being an illegitimate child of a lowly family background, he had climbed the ladder of planetary politics and reached a significant height.
He was going to show those who regard him as nothing what he can shape power into if placed in the hands of someone like him.
"Nowadays, only powered individuals can survive in this harsh anomaly we are facing,' Zick stood, his elegant blue robe drooping down to his feet, which complemented his porcelain skin; his cunning brown eyes gleamed with ambition he can't conceal.
Only a few people nodded at his speech.
"The Unified Federation is not helping our situation, and I doubt they would, cause right now all we are going to receive is a bunch of comforting words and then send us home to fend for our planets.
Kion frowned. He turned to his superior with a look. 'Are we going to keep letting Zick spread doubts around.
But the man hardly looked his way.
Kion: ….
"I say we take charge of our…...
"Take charge of what?'
