Chapter 2 - Can't forget you, My love?

2. Can't forget you, My love?

Dhiya's POV

All the selected members arrived at the meeting session, except Akshadh. Unconsciously, my eyes scanned the room, searching for him, but he was nowhere to be found. With only five minutes left before the session started, I got up from my seat and went out to look for him. I felt a sense of unease, as I wasn't one to usually act impulsively. I didn't know what drew me to him, but something compelled me to find him.

I searched for him on the entire floor and then rushed to the floor below. A man was standing in the corridor, facing outside, talking on the phone. I stepped towards him to see if it was Akshadh. I stood behind him silently, occupied with confusion and hesitation. Unexpectedly, he turned towards me, and I lost my balance, almost falling. He grabbed my hands, balancing me and preventing my fall. My head remained close to his chest, and our hands were clasped together. He had a pleasant, manly scent. Our eyes met for a brief moment.

A few seconds later, he broke the silence.

"Can't you be careful? If I couldn't balance you, what would happen?" He sounded harsh yet gentle. His words brought me back to reality.

"No time to discuss, let's go," I grabbed his hand and rushed to the meeting session.

We arrived on time and agreed to continue the training with the other selected members.

I exhaled deeply.

He looked at me strangely. "Are you okay? Why did you behave so strangely? Are you crazy?" he asked, breaking the silence.

"I'm not sure, but I wanted you to attend this training to improve and help many lives. I've heard about your services to people. How could someone like you miss this great opportunity?"

"Everything's okay. Do you know how to behave with strangers?" He seemed rude and hard-hearted, unlike the person I had heard about.

I was confused and looked at him strangely. Our opinions differed, and I had misjudged him based on his Indian background and services. It was my mistake.

"Sorry," I said, without looking at his face, and took my files from the table.

I arrived at the hotel arranged by my dad. I put everything aside on the table and relaxed on the couch. Feeling calm, I went to the restroom to freshen up. I changed into a comfortable dress and then had a green tea. Later, I video-called my parents to discuss the day's events.

At night, I reviewed newly published papers to upgrade myself. Searching for Indian papers, I found one and opened the file. Seeing Akshadh's name as the author irritated me, but some highlighted words caught my attention.

Honestly, I was impressed by his sincerity and dedication to his work. His opinions and suggestions were unique, and his work sparked my interest in learning more about him.

I typed Akshadh's name into Google and was shocked to see the extensive list of services he had provided to people. As his pictures loaded slowly, I saw him posing with numerous medals and certificates. Then, I opened Akshadh's Wikipedia page.

As I read on, a sense of unknown happiness filled me, and I felt proud to learn about his achievements. The page had headings like Profession, Services, Achievements, Passion, Family, Biography, and Education. I saw photos of him with underprivileged people, which sparked a desire to know more about him.

Scrolling down, I stopped at the "Passion" section. Apart from social service, he wrote inspirational stories to motivate others. His interests included driving and painting.

Inspirational Stories!

I clicked on the first link and was amazed by the story that empowered girls to achieve their goals. Akshadh portrayed women in a wonderful light, showcasing his writing talent. His words inspired me too. I copied the story links to read later.

My curiosity grew, and I wanted to know more about his personal life.

Scrolling down, I stopped at the family info section. There, I learned that he comes from a middle-class family, did his schooling near his hometown, and lost his father at 18. His mother, a school teacher, raised him and his younger brother. After his father's passing, Akshadh took on family responsibilities, balancing medical studies with part-time work.

By 2015, his hard work paid off, reaching the pinnacle in medical fields and services. He received numerous awards, media recognition, and even featured in Forbes magazine last year.

Forbes magazine! Wow, impressive!

His Biography

Akshadh is an ambivert, a blend of both introvert and extrovert.

Personal Details:

Real Name: Akshadh Jai

Eye Color: Dark Brown

Hair Color: Black

Marital Status: Single

Affairs/Girlfriend: Unknown

I stopped reading there, fixated on his marital status and relationship life. Why couldn't I look away? Why did my body feel so relaxed? In a split second, a flutter of emotions disturbed me. I closed my eyes, leaned my head back, and sank into the couch.

"His affairs/girlfriends: unknown" flashed in my mind.

Did he have a girlfriend or affairs? The unknown answer had driven me crazy. I had never felt this way before about anyone who had crossed my path. What was happening to me?

Everything about him seemed to be perfect in online and in the media, but in reality, he was rude and ruthless. He didn't know how to treat a girl.

"Did he have a girlfriend, and was that why he acted that way?" I pondered, deep in thought.

I hated this, Dhiya! I wasn't supposed to have feelings for love, family, or emotions. I had no time for such things. He was just a stranger to me, nothing more.

Yes, nothing!

Before sleeping, I contacted the general doctor at the hospital and asked about today's case. Then, I shared the news about the training program in the U.S. He was thrilled and wished me success.

Akshadh POV

I felt neutral about being selected for the training program, as I had numerous commitments and obligations to attend to in India. I needed to ensure that my responsibilities were covered, so I called the alternate team members to take over the urgent tasks. If they declined, I would have to cancel my plans and return to India. I contacted each of them individually and assigned the tasks, and to my relief, they accepted willingly.

Here's a polished version of your text:

After informing the team members, I turned to head to the meeting session. Suddenly, I accidentally pushed someone standing behind me, and she almost fell. I quickly caught her, preventing her fall.

Thank goodness!

Her head was close to my chest, and her hair gently blew across her face, covering her right eye and chin.

Dhiya, why was she here? Our eyes met, and I felt a spark, but I had no time for romance or distractions. Yes, she was beautiful, but my work was my top priority.

"Can't you be more careful? If I hadn't caught you, what would have happened?" I asked, surprised.

"No time to discuss, come quickly," she replied, grabbing my hand and rushing me towards the session. What was wrong with her?

"Are you okay? Why are you acting so recklessly? Are you crazy?" She only knew about my services and achievements, which was why she had sought me out for the program. She barely knew me, so why did she trust me so easily?

"Oh, everything's fine. Do you know how to behave around strangers?"

Her face turned pale, and her smile vanished. She quickly apologized and gathered the files before hurrying away.

I couldn't waste another minute on this. Too many people depended on me and my mission. I had work to do. I headed to the apartment where I usually stayed when in the U.S.
