Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Differences Between People

In Backlund, Empress Borough, at Manor No. 59, Altair Sheffield was still sleeping soundly in his warm bed, unaware that his actions in the East Borough had already attracted the attention of official Beyonders.

Everything happening outside seemed to have no connection to the manor. In the morning, Altair slept in as usual. After waking up, he went to the dining room, where servants had already laid out a prepared breakfast.

Altair liked to sleep in and wake up late; this was common knowledge among the manor's servants. Even if the police came looking for clues, no one would associate Altair with a murderer.

Altair was currently enjoying a sumptuous breakfast. This morning, he was having his favorite Dixie Pie.

While it was undeniable that Klein Moretti, this 'Pauper God,' was 'poor,' his taste was still quite good. The pie crust was baked to just the right softness and hardness, and today's filling was a perfect blend of marinated beef and vegetables. The only drawback was the lack of chopsticks; it would have been even better with some pickled radish... When Altair finished the last sip of cream soup, he directly shook the small bell on the table, signaling the servants that breakfast time was over and they could come clean up.

Just as he stood up, he saw Hahn Clayton personally leading people in and curiously asked, "Hahn, is there nothing to do today? Usually, you'd be out by now."

Hahn Clayton showed no strong emotional reaction to this question, calmly replying as always, "There's no work requiring me to go out today. The factory has already informed me that there are dedicated people managing it."

Hearing this, Altair said nothing, just nodded slightly to show understanding, and turned to leave.

Hahn Clayton followed behind Altair. He knew there was something Altair wanted to discuss with him, so they headed directly to the study on the second floor.

After Hahn Clayton closed the study door, he immediately said, "Earl Altair, is the outfit you wore yesterday still at home?"

"This morning, the East Borough Police Department specifically investigated the murder case that occurred last night, and the results have not yet been announced."

"And you mentioned that there was a Beyonder among the people last night. I'm afraid the Church might notice, so I wanted to dispose of all the clues first."

Perhaps because the 'assassination' of the Beyonder yesterday was successful, Altair Sheffield forgot that all unofficial Beyonders would be investigated, especially since he had openly killed someone on the street.

After calming his mind, Altair directly said, "That outfit from last night is still in the washroom. No one else knows."

After learning the location of the clothes, Hahn Clayton immediately left to deal with this 'dangerous item'.

He took the clothes from Altair's room, left the manor, and didn't return until noon.

As for how Hahn Clayton disposed of the clothes, Altair Sheffield had no idea... Most of Altair's etiquette and similar courses for nobles were basically completed now, which gave him free time during the day.

These past two days, he had mostly been taking books from the library to study, learning everything from Mechanical Design to Biotechnology.

As for Firearm Manufacturing, Altair planned to use the Kar98k and MG42. Their bullets were universal, so there would be no need to design another bullet production line when manufacturing them.

Both firearms were already excellent products and didn't require any modifications; they could be used as is.

As for the 'New Gunpowder,' he planned to choose one that would simply work. He was afraid it might be used against him later, which would be disastrous.

As for the other company, he planned to preemptively snatch the bicycle idea... Tap-tap-tap.

"Enter."

Hearing the door close, Altair looked up and saw that it wasn't Hahn Clayton who entered, but the new housekeeper, Freya Quinn. Her immediate failure to state her purpose upon entering made him wonder if she wanted him to ask her.

Since you won't speak, I won't ask. Altair lowered his head back to the book in his hands. To be honest, he never imagined he'd still be studying these things after transmigrating. He used to think he'd gain abilities and live freely after transmigrating... When he found his teacup empty and was about to pour another cup from the teapot, he saw Freya Quinn still standing in front of the desk. He asked in confusion, "Is something the matter?"

Freya Quinn seemed not to have heard him, as if she was deep in thought.

Altair didn't wait for Freya Quinn to reply. He shook the teapot in his hand, found it empty of black tea, and directly stood up to leave.

Only after the door closed did Freya Quinn react, looking around to find Altair had already left... Since coming to this world, Altair had never gone out normally during the day. Before, he had no time, always studying at home.

Now that he had private time, he found it too boring and decided to go out and experience life in this other world.

He went downstairs to find Hahn Clayton to arrange a carriage, explaining that he wanted to go out for a stroll.

Altair returned to his room, changed into his underwear, then rang the bell for Vera and Aileen to help him change into suitable outdoor clothes. He kept taking one piece of clothing after another, complaining inwardly more than once about how troublesome the clothes of this era were to wear.

After an hour of preparation, Altair finally finished changing. Looking in the mirror, he saw himself in a white long dress with Puff Sleeves, Ruffles, and lace trim on the chest, wearing a Gauze Hat adorned with blue ribbons and silk flowers, and light sheer gloves on his hands.

Once ready, he led the two young maids directly out of the manor. After getting into the carriage, he thought for a moment and then said to Hahn Clayton, "Freya Quinn might have something she can't handle herself. Go and ask her."

With the instructions given, Altair immediately had the Coachman drive off. After drawing the curtains, the two maids curiously asked, "Earl Altair, what happened to Governess Freya?"

Altair looked at the two adorable maids in front of him, reached out and pinched their little cheeks, saying, "How would I know? She didn't say anything after coming in, and when I asked her, she still didn't speak. I could only let Hahn handle it."

The two young maids looked worried upon hearing this.

Altair saw this. Through their time living together, he had come to understand that Freya Quinn was a rather stubborn person. Since she came to him this time, it meant she truly had no other option.

But if you don't speak, I can't help you. I can only notify Hahn Clayton to help solve it. It's not like I can beg you to speak.

Altair trusted Hahn Clayton's abilities; he basically handed all matters to him, and there was nothing he couldn't solve. Perhaps when he returned, the matter would already be resolved.

When Altair turned to look at the two young maids again, he gave each of them a flick on the forehead and said, "I've already told Hahn to handle it. Don't be so glum. If you spoil my good mood today, see how I'll punish you when I get back."

Hearing Altair's threatening words, the two young maids playfully stuck out their tongues and said, "Earl Altair wouldn't punish us for something like this."

"Yes, Earl Altair is a good person."
