Maya's POV
The second day started with promise.
Elias's left flank looked weak. Troops scattered. Formation loose. Like he had pulled too many soldiers from that section to reinforce the center.
Maya saw it clearly on the tactical map. A vulnerability. A perfect place to strike.
"Send the western division," she commanded. "Hit his left flank hard before he can reinforce it."
Marcus hesitated. "You're sure?"
"It's an opening," Maya said. "We have to take it."
Kaden was fighting on the main line. But she sent word to him anyway. He trusted her judgment. He always did.
The western division moved into position.
Five thousand soldiers. The best warriors Kaden had. They approached the weak flank carefully, ready for anything.
And then everything exploded.
Elias's forces emerged from hidden positions. Not just from the flank. From above. From the sides. From everywhere at once.
It was a trap.
A perfectly constructed, brilliantly executed trap.
