The crowd erupted into cheers as Mystveil floated gracefully onto the battlefield. A faint violet Psychic aura surrounded its body. Across the field, Donphan pawed the ground with its front foot, ready to charge.
The referee raised his flag.
"Battle... continue!"
Mira wasted no time.
"Donphan, Rollout!"
Donphan curled into a ball and began spinning at incredible speed. The ground shook beneath its momentum.
Elior remained calm.
"Mystveil, Teleport!"
In a flash of violet light, Mystveil disappeared. Donphan rolled harmlessly through the empty space. An instant later, Mystveil reappeared behind Donphan.
"Now, Psychic!"
Mystveil's eyes glowed bright blue.
Invisible Psychic energy surrounded Donphan, lifting the heavy Pokémon into the air.
The audience gasped.
"Amazing! It's lifting Donphan!"
Mira smiled.
"Break free!"
Donphan roared.
"Donnnphan"
Using its tremendous physical strength, it struggled against the Psychic grip.
Cracks appeared in the invisible force.
Then—
BOOM!
Donphan broke free and landed heavily on the battlefield.The crowd applauded. Unlike Skyrend's fast aerial attacks, Mystveil fought with precision. It rarely moved. Instead, it controlled the battlefield with its mind.
"Mystveil, Psybeam!"
A multicolored beam shot toward Donphan.
"Protect!"
A shimmering green barrier appeared.
Psybeam exploded harmlessly against it.
Mira immediately countered.
"Bulldoze!"
Donphan slammed its feet into the ground.
The battlefield shook violently.
Mystveil struggled to maintain its balance.
"Zen Headbutt!"
Mystveil surrounded itself with Psychic energy and dashed forward.
The attack struck Donphan directly.
Both Pokémon were pushed backward.
Neither gave in.
Several minutes passed. Both Pokémon had taken considerable damage. Mystveil's breathing became heavier.
Donphan's armor-like hide was covered with scratches. The commentators were amazed.
"This is an incredible tactical battle!Neither trainer is giving the other an opening."
Mira clenched her fist.
"Donphan! Use Earthquake!"
Donphan stomped the ground with all its strength. The battlefield split apart.
Massive shockwaves spread in every direction.
Elior reacted immediately.
"Mystveil!"
"Teleport!"
Mystveil vanished just before the cracks reached it. It reappeared high above the battlefield.
"Finish it with Psychic!"
Mystveil unleashed its strongest Psychic attack. A massive wave of psychic energy crashed down upon Donphan. The Ground-type staggered. Its legs trembled. But it refused to fall.
Both trainers knew the battle couldn't continue much longer. They looked at one another. No words were needed.
Both understood. This next exchange would decide everything.
Mira: "Donphan... Stone Edge!"
Sharp pillars of rock burst upward.
Elior: "Mystveil... Dazzling Gleam!"
A brilliant burst of fairy-like light illuminated the stadium.
The attacks collided. The explosion covered the battlefield in dust. The crowd held its breath. Seconds passed. The smoke slowly cleared. Donphan was still standing...Barely. Mystveil was also standing...Barely. Both Pokémon stared at each other. Neither moved.
Then...
Donphan took one step forward.
Mystveil floated slightly higher.
For one final moment, their eyes met.
Then...
Both collapsed at the same time.
THUD....
The referee carefully observed both Pokémon. Several seconds passed. Neither responded. He crossed both flags above his head.
"Donphan and Mystveil both are is unable to battle! This battle ends in a double knockout!"
The stadium exploded with applause.
Mira recalled Donphan.
"You fought brilliantly."
Elior smiled as he recalled Mystveil.
"You never stopped believing."
The two trainers exchanged a nod. The battle remained perfectly even.
