Chapter 172 - Chapter 172: Elior Vs Mira! Victory (part 11)

The stadium fell into complete silence. No cheers. No applause. No commentary. Only the sound of the wind echoed across the battlefield. The referee raised his voice.

‎"Lucario is unable to battle! Trainer Elior has one Pokémon remaining!"

‎The giant scoreboard changed.

‎Quarterfinal Score

‎Elior

‎1 Pokémon Remaining

‎Mira

‎1 Pokémon Remaining

‎The entire stadium knew what this meant. One battle. One Pokémon. One trainer would advance to the semi final.

‎The other would see their League dream end here.

‎Elior gently recalled Lucario.

‎He held the Poké Ball in both hands. For several seconds... He simply looked at it.

‎"Thank you."

‎His voice was quiet.

‎Lucario had defeated Noivern. It had awakened the mysterious Golden Resonance. It had pushed Mega Salamence to its absolute limit. It had done everything it possibly could. He placed the Poké Ball back onto his belt.

‎Across the battlefield, Mira placed a hand on Mega Salamence's neck.

‎The Dragon-type breathed heavily. Its body was covered with injuries from Lucario's relentless assault. Mira smiled softly.

‎"Just one more battle."

‎Salamence nodded.

‎Elior slowly reached toward the final PokéBall on his belt. Unlike the others...This Poké Ball was strangely warm. Almost as if it were alive. The audience held its breath.

‎Even the commentators stopped speaking. Everyone knew which Pokémon remained. Elior closed his eyes.

‎A memory flashed through his mind.

‎The day he first met the mysterious Pokémon. Its lonely gaze. Its connection to the ancient legends of Fate, Faith, and Aetherion. Everything had led to this moment.

‎He opened his eyes.

‎"Partner..."

‎He smiled.

‎"Let's finish this together."

‎The Poké Ball flew into the air. A pillar of black-and-gold light erupted across the battlefield. The sky above the stadium darkened. A cool wind swept through the arena. From within the light...Eclipse Lunashade appeared.

‎Its crimson eyes slowly opened.Golden markings shimmered across its body. The crowd gasped. Many spectators had never seen it battle before. The atmosphere itself felt different.

‎The moment Eclipse Lunashade landed...

‎Mega Salamence instinctively took a step back.

‎Not from fear. From instinct.

‎It sensed something ancient within its opponent. The commentators whispered.

‎"That pressure...It's unlike any Pokémon we've seen in this tournament."

‎The referee raised both flags.

‎"Final battle!Begin!"

‎Mira knew she couldn't hesitate.

‎"Salamence! Double-Edge!"

‎The Dragon-type launched itself forward like a falling comet. The stadium shook beneath its speed. Elior remained perfectly calm.

‎"Shadow Sneak."

‎Eclipse Lunashade disappeared into its own shadow. Mega Salamence crashed through empty space. The audience gasped.

‎A heartbeat later— Lunashade emerged behind Salamence.

‎"Dark Pulse!"

‎A wave of black energy exploded against Mega Salamence's back. Salamence staggered.

‎"Dragon Claw!"

‎Mega Salamence spun around instantly.

‎Its glowing claws slashed toward Lunashade.

‎"Protect!"

‎A shimmering barrier appeared. Dragon Claw struck the barrier. Cracks spread across it. But it held.

‎The next several minutes became a display of incredible skill. Dark Pulse met Flamethrower. Shadow Ball collided with Dragon Pulse. Salamence dominated the skies. Lunashade controlled the battlefield with perfect precision.

‎Neither trainer wasted a single movement. Neither Pokémon showed fear.

‎Elior suddenly noticed something. Mega Salamence's breathing had become uneven. Lucario's battle had taken more out of it than anyone realized.

‎He smiled.

‎"Now...Moonblast!"

‎A brilliant sphere of silver light formed before Lunashade. It exploded toward Salamence.

‎"Hyper Beam!"

‎Mira answered immediately. The attacks collided. The explosion illuminated the entire stadium. Smoke covered everything.

‎As the smoke faded...Both Pokémon remained standing.

‎Barely.

‎Their breathing echoed through the silent stadium. Mira and Elior looked at one another. No words were needed. They both knew. This was the end.

‎Mira: "Salamence...Everything we've trained for...One last attack. Dragon Rush!"

‎Blue draconic energy engulfed Mega Salamence.

‎He looked at Lunashade. Lunashade looked back. Trainer and Pokémon smiled.

‎"Let's end this...Eclipse Burst."

‎For the first time in the League...Lunashade unleashed the technique born from the Eclipse phenomenon. Black and golden energy spiraled together. The sky darkened. The sunlight disappeared. The battlefield became covered in a giant eclipse.

‎The audience stared in complete silence.

‎The attack surged forward. Dragon Rush met Eclipse Burst.

‎For several seconds...Neither attack moved.

‎Then...Golden cracks appeared within Dragon Rush. Mega Salamence roared.

‎It pushed harder. Lunashade's eyes glowed crimson. The Eclipse energy expanded. Finally—

‎BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!

‎A blinding explosion consumed the entire battlefield. The shockwave reached every corner of the stadium. Dust rose hundreds of meters into the sky. No one could see anything. Not even the referee.

‎The smoke slowly disappeared. The stadium remained silent. Two silhouettes emerged

‎.

‎Mega Salamence...

‎And Eclipse Lunashade.

‎Both stood motionless.

‎One second.

‎Two seconds.

‎Three seconds.

‎Mega Salamence smiled toward Mira. Its Mega Evolution faded. It returned to its normal form.

‎Then...

‎It collapsed.

‎THUD..

‎The referee immediately raised the green flag.

‎"Salamence is unable to battle! The winner is Eclipse Lunashade! The winner of the Quarterfinal match is..."

‎He raised both arms.

‎"ELIOR!"

‎The silence lasted only a heartbeat. Then the stadium exploded. The cheers could be heard throughout the entire League grounds. The audience stood, clapping and shouting.

‎Even the Gym Leaders applauded. Some trainers wiped tears from their eyes. They had witnessed one of the greatest League battles in Luminara history.

‎Mira recalled Salamence. She gently held its Poké Ball. Despite losing... She smiled. She walked across the battlefield. Elior met her halfway.

‎For a few moments...Neither spoke. Then Mira laughed.

‎"You finally beat me."

‎Elior scratched the back of his head.

‎"Barely."

‎She extended her hand.

‎"Next time..."

‎"I'll win."

‎Elior smiled and shook it.

‎"I'll be waiting."

‎The crowd applauded once more.
