The bunker echoed with the sound of emergency alarms.
Red lights pulsed through the corridors, bathing the ancient walls in a crimson glow.
Dean watched the security monitor.
The three silver-eyed figures walked calmly through the bunker.
No hesitation.
No fear.
One of them dragged the tip of his sword across the floor, leaving a trail of sparks.
Ben swallowed.
"They're not exactly subtle."
Dean holstered the Colt and grabbed an iron machete from a nearby display.
"They don't need to be."
Malach stepped closer to the monitor.
His face had gone pale.
"They're stronger than I remember."
Dean looked at him.
"You still haven't told us who they are."
Malach took a slow breath.
"Long before angels guarded Heaven..."
He stared at the screen.
"...the Watchers guarded Creation itself."
Ben frowned.
"So... they're the good guys?"
Malach's expression darkened.
"They were."
The bunker shook violently.
A distant explosion echoed through the lower levels.
One of the blast doors had just been cut open.
Dean looked at the bunker map mounted on the wall.
The red dots marking the intruders kept moving.
Straight toward them.
No wrong turns.
No hesitation.
Ben noticed.
"They're heading for the archive."
Dean nodded.
"Which means they're after something."
Malach answered quietly.
"Not something."
He looked directly at Dean.
"Someone."
Silence.
Dean understood immediately.
"You."
Malach lowered his head.
"Yes."
Dean grabbed an old leather journal from one of the shelves.
The cover bore the Men of Letters crest.
Inside, dozens of names had been crossed out over the years.
Hunters.
Artifacts.
Creatures.
Then one page caught his eye.
At the top was written:
THE WATCHERS
Beneath it—
A sketch.
Three warriors.
Silver eyes.
Black coats.
Ancient swords.
Exactly like the figures on the security cameras.
Dean flipped to the next page.
A handwritten note had been added decades later.
The handwriting was unmistakable.
John Winchester.
If you ever meet one... don't fight.
Dean read it again.
Ben looked over his shoulder.
"...Well."
He smiled nervously.
"That's encouraging."
Dean kept reading.
Another note.
Different handwriting.
Sam's.
If they awaken, it means the balance has already been broken.
Dean slowly closed the journal.
His expression became serious.
"We're leaving."
Ben blinked.
"That's your plan?"
Dean nodded.
"John says don't fight."
Ben shrugged.
"Honestly? Best plan I've heard all week."
Before they could move—
The bunker lights suddenly went out.
Complete darkness.
Only the red emergency lights remained.
Then...
Footsteps.
Slow.
Heavy.
Echoing through the corridor outside.
One...
Two...
Three...
They stopped directly outside the archive room.
Silence.
Then a calm voice.
Deep.
Ancient.
"Malach."
No answer.
The voice continued.
"Your exile is over."
Malach closed his eyes.
Dean quietly cocked the Colt.
CLICK.
The leader spoke again.
"Open the door."
Dean smirked.
"Or?"
A long pause followed.
Then the answer came.
Cold.
Emotionless.
"Or we open it ourselves."
The reinforced archive door exploded inward.
Steel twisted like paper.
Smoke filled the room.
The leader stepped through first.
Nearly seven feet tall.
His long black coat barely moved despite the wind rushing through the corridor.
His silver eyes fixed immediately on Malach.
He ignored Dean.
Ignored Ben.
As if neither of them mattered.
He spoke only one sentence.
"Brother..."
Dean looked at Malach.
Malach stared back at the warrior.
Shock spread across his face.
Then sorrow.
Finally...
Acceptance.
He whispered:
"...Asterion."
The Watcher lowered his sword.
For the first time, emotion appeared in his eyes.
Not hatred.
Disappointment.
"You abandoned your oath."
Malach answered quietly.
"No."
He stepped in front of Dean and Ben.
"I protected humanity."
Asterion's expression hardened.
"Humanity was never part of the oath."
Dean finally stepped forward.
The Colt in one hand.
The iron machete in the other.
Asterion looked at him for the first time.
His silver eyes studied Dean in silence.
Then...
A faint smile appeared.
"So..."
He glanced at the Colt.
Then at the Impala's keys hanging from Dean's belt.
"...another Winchester believes he can change fate."
Dean smiled back.
That unmistakable Winchester grin.
"Worked out pretty well for the last ones."
For the first time in centuries...
Asterion laughed.
It wasn't mocking.
It was almost... respectful.
Then he raised his ancient blade.
The blade ignited with white celestial fire.
The temperature inside the bunker dropped instantly.
Asterion pointed the sword toward Dean.
"Then show me..."
His silver eyes blazed like stars.
"...why your family was worth Heaven's sacrifice."
The battle for the legacy of the Winchesters had begun.
