The next day had arrived, and Ty got to his first class, which was supposed to be Instructor Croft. However, the seats were lowered, and Coach Turbo was instead in the room, seemingly waiting for the rest of the class to enter. Once they were all in their spots, he spoke.
"ALRIGHT BUGS! YOU HAVE BEEN ABLE TO WINNESS THE STRENGTH OF YOUR CLASSMATE! HOWEVER, YOU WILL HOPEFULLY NOT BE FIGHTING HUMANS, SO YESTERDAY WAS REALLY JUST A TEST OF SKILL! TODAY, YOU WILL FORM GROUPS OF FIVE TO TRAIN WITH!"
Ariel's head immediately whipped around to him, with a devilish smile plastered across her face.
"THESE WILL ALSO BE THE TEAMS YOU ENTER THE CHAMBERS WITH, SO BE WARNED AND CHOOSE TEAMMATES WISELY! YOUR FIRST ENTRY INTO THE FIELDS WILL BE IN ABOUT.. uhh… TWO-ISH WEEKS i think, SO PREPARE WELL!"
After that, Coach Turbo sat down, seemingly content with what he said. As soon as they realized he wasn't going to speak anymore, the entire class burst into conversation about who would join who. Ty was relatively sure that Cata and Ariel would be joining him, bringing his numbers up to three. Problem being, his team consisted of Cata, a sniper, him, an assassin, and Ariel, a uhh… whatever someone who uses a whip is. This composition completely leaves out any sort of tank, and they would almost certainly need one.
Luckily, Ty had one in mind, and rushed over to hopefully get to him first.
"Halvren! Wanna join my team? I have two other teammates, but someone like you who's been training with a shield would be extremely appreciated."
Halvren seemed to pause for a moment, seemingly thinking a lot harder about the question than Ty had initially anticipated. This got him quite nervous, as he never considered the fact that Halvren might have other people to join. But, it seems like luck was on his side this time.
"Sure I'll join. Will I be the only shielder though? It would be a bit uncomfortable trying to protect at least two people at the same time…"
"I… honestly didn't think about that. I hope you won't be, let me go check in with someone."
This was something Ty actually hadn't thought about. Where would he find someone to support Halvren? At first, he was honestly thinking about trying to grab another attacker, but Halvren had some very valid concerns.
Of course, there was always one more person he could ask, and chances are both of these roles could be filled at once. Ty started to walk over to another guy, the one that could hopefully solve his problems.
"Oh Tarik~! I know you've gotta be looking for a group to join, at least from the look on your face you are. You should join mine as a tank of some sort!"
"Sadly right- as always Tyson. But you know what, sure. I'll join your little ragtag bunch. Don't act like you didn't just come up to me so I could join."
Tarik had always been quick with his clapbacks, and clearly he didn't lose this skill over the years that they had been out of contact with each other.
"Clearly you're still the same person, cmon dumbass."
At this point, most of the class had grouped themselves into teams of five. Ty, Cata, Ariel, Halvren, and now Tarik had made a group themselves, with a relatively balanced composition. Interestingly enough, there seemed to be an excess of shielders rather than a deficit, making Ty realize that he was part of the minority that didn't consider taking hits an option.
"NOW THAT YOU WORMS HAVE MADE GROUPS, ITS TIME FOR TEAM BUILDING EXERCISES! GET TO KNOW THE PEOPLE IN YOUR GROUP! IT MAY NOT BE THE MOST COMBAT ORIENTED LESSON THAT I'LL HAVE YOU DO, BUT IT IS ARGUABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT! KNOWING YOUR TEAMMATE AND HOW THEY WILL REACT TO A SITUATION WITHOUT HAVING TO ASK THEM COULD BE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIFE AND DEATH IN THE FIELDS!"
Coach Turbo really wanted to have everyone get to know each other, and for good reason. Groups seemed like they either consisted of friend groups or complete strangers, with the second being more common. Not even Ty's own group was an exception, since everyone here only joined due to knowing him. They were complete strangers with everyone else in the group. Them speaking to one another would be vital to working together. Ty decided he would start since it only seemed right.
"I guess I'll start off since I invited everyone here myself. I'm Ty, although you guys knew that already. I'm an assassin type fighter so I'll probably be hidden a lot of the time when fighting. I'm also very obviously a finesse type fighter, but I want my style to be fluid enough to fit those around me rather than making others conform. After all, speed makes it easier to adapt, right?"
After Ty introduced himself, everyone else seemed a lot more comfortable starting themselves off. Of course, seemingly being the most confident out of the rest of them, Ariel went next.
"I'm Ariel, although soon enough everyone here will know that. I guess if I had to describe my fighting style I'd be a… control type? I like to keep my enemy' s movements in check using my whip. However… it is kinda long and I'm still learning to not accidentally hit my allies with it when I attack."
Ariel blushed and put her hands behind her back as she said the last part, seemingly embarrassed about still hitting others. Nobody else seemed to care though, since they were all learning to use their weapons proficiently. Well, almost everyone. Cata seemed to be confident in her abilities and decided to make that known.
"I'm Cata, and unlike Ariel over there, I'm extremely confident in not hitting people with my weapon unintentionally. Of course, I'd need to since I use a sniper. Don't wanna make anybody lose any limbs after all! I'll probably be in the back or far away to get a good angle on enemies, so you'll see me the least. Hopefully though, my effect will be felt across the field."
Tarik then went, being over the top- as usual.
"My name is Tarik, and I'm a jack of all trades. In case any of you are a little dumb like that guy over there-" Tarik gestured towards Ty causing him to give him a nasty look back, "that means that I can do most of anything. At least anything with any melee weapon. I don't really have a set style, it all depends on the weapon I use. Mostly while here I'll be the spare shielder since that's what my buddy Ty asked me to do."
Hearing that, Halvren sighed in relief, glad that Ty had gotten another person to protect them.
"My name is Halvren, it's nice to meet all of you. I uhh use a shield and whatnot. My style really isn't to hit stuff, I'm really just here to protect you guys from hits. I use a tower shield and I can use a shortsword to protect myself if needed. I like to try and keep enemies focused on me so I can more reliably take hits."
After Halvren finished introducing himself, the group started to socialize a bit more, slowly getting at least a bit more comfortable talking to one another.
