Minutes passed, and Livia could feel her strength draining away. She tried—again and again—to summon the power Florita taught her, but nothing happened. No spark. No warmth. Nothing.
"Enough, Livia. You'll only exhaust yourself further," her mother said worriedly.
Livia opened her eyes and sighed in frustration. "I can't use the power Florita taught me. You're probably right, Mom. This place is wrapped in Amber's magic—that's why I can't unleash anything. I can't even cast a simple spell to open the lock of this prison." Her voice trembled with irritation.
More minutes passed before Amber finally appeared. Livia and her mother instantly stood.
"Well?" Amber smirked. "Have you all forgiven each other yet?"
"You're unbelievable, Amber! You're truly shameless! You hurt the very people who treated you like their own child!" Livia shouted furiously.
"You're right. I am shameless, Livia," Amber replied casually. "Why? Did you think I begged them to adopt me back then?"
