Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1: THE DIVORCED PARTY

The day I signed my divorce papers, my husband was smiling. Not the soft smile he used to give me when we first got married.

No.

This one was cold. Victorious.

"You'll regret this, Aria," he said smoothly as he adjusted his expensive cufflinks. "No one will want a divorced woman with nothing."

Nothing.

After five years of marriage, that was what I was reduced to.

No company shares.

No house.

No car.

No child.

Just a suitcase and my pride.

I lifted my chin. "I gave you everything, Damien. And you gave me betrayal."

He didn't deny it.Because we both knew about Vanessa.

My best friend.

And the baby she was carrying.

His baby.

Vanessa walked into the lawyer's office right on cue, her hand possessively wrapped around Damien's arm.

"Oh, Aria," she sighed dramatically. "I never meant for this to happen."

I almost laughed.

"You mean you never meant for me to find out."

Damien's expression hardened. "Enough. The papers are signed. Leave with dignity."

Dignity.

I picked up the pen and signed my name one last time as Mrs. Damien Wolfe.

And just like that, I became Aria Bennett again.

Divorced. Discarded.

But not destroyed.

As I walked out of that building, the rain poured heavily, soaking my thin dress within seconds.

I had nowhere to go.

My phone buzzed.

Unknown Number.

I hesitated before answering.

"Miss Bennett?" The deep male voice on the other end was calm. Controlled. Powerful.

"Yes?"

"I've been looking for you."

My brows furrowed. "I'm sorry?"

"You don't know me," he continued. "But I know everything about you. And I have a proposal that will change your life."

I almost hung up. "I'm not interested in scams."

"This isn't a scam," he said evenly. "It's revenge."My heart skipped.

"I can give you back everything your ex-husband took from you," he added. "And more."

The rain thundered around me."Who are you?" I whispered.

A slight pause.

My name is Alexander Vale. The name sounded familiar. Very familiar.…The Alexander Vale? The one who owns half of this city? Yes."

My breath caught. Alexander Vale was Damien's biggest business rival.

And one of the most powerful men in the country. "What do you want from me?" I asked carefully. His voice lowered. Marry me. Silence swallowed the world. I'm sorry—what? A contract marriage," he clarified. "One year. You become my wife. I help you reclaim your dignity. And together… we ruin Damien Wolfe."My pulse pounded.Marry a stranger?

But then I remembered Vanessa's smug smile.

Damien's cold eyes."You'll regret this."

Slowly, I stepped out from under the shelter, letting the rain wash away the last tears I refused to shed. "When do we start?" I asked.

On the other end, Alexander Vale chuckled softly.

"Welcome to your comeback, Mrs. Vale."

And just like that My revenge story began.
