Chapter 3 - The blood moon.

ALISHA.

For the rest of the night, I couldn't sleep. I couldn't even blink my eyes. I was scared something would appear in the room and eat me up if I dared. As soon as the day broke and light flickered in through the cracks of the window sill, I jumped to my feet. I opened the door, ready to beg the headmistress to let me out of the dungeon I accidentally found myself in. I tried the doorknob, only for the door not to open. Shocked, I tried again and again but the door refused to give way.

No way in hell they locked me in.

"Hey!" I yelled, banging on the door with as much energy as I could. "Let me out!" My voice cracked because of how I strained it but I didn't give a damn about it. "You monsters!" I yelled again.

"Quit making a racket!" A male voice yelled from the other side of the door. "Headmistress Aurora asked us not to let you out for any reason. Your meal will soon be brought to you if that is why you are calling."

I wanted to yell at him. I wanted to protest. I wanted to yell at the injustice. But somehow, I knew it was useless to try and make headway with these people. So I left the door and collapsed on the bed instead.

By now, the teacher and the tour guide and the other student would have noticed my disappearance. Would they be combing the woods for me? Have they gone to the authorities to report me missing? Or would they simply think I threw a tantrum and went back home?

I didn't realize when I fell asleep despite all the questions on my mind. I woke up to someone tapping me. Startled, I flicked my eyes open and held the hand, twisting it about.

"Owww!" A helpless cry rented the air.

Darkness engulfed a part of the room but light flooded in from the window that was now open. I dropped the arm when I saw it was one of the guards that headmistress Aurora asked to show me to this room.

"What do you want?" I asked him, still at alert. It wasn't everyday I woke up to strangers in my room and their hands on my body. How could I have even slept the day away, knowing the environment I was in?

The man stared at me for a second before his eyes directed themselves to his arm. It was twisted at an odd angle. I knew that I had just broken the bone. I felt sorry for him but I didn't regret my action. It was one of the reasons why I learnt takwando—to protect myself—and I wasn't about to apologize for it. The man shrugged, then twisted the arm back to the right angle. His face contoured with pain but he didn't let out any sound. A minute passed and then he shook the arm, moving it up and down.

My eyes bulged out of their sockets. Did that arm just healed in all of two minutes?

He finally faced me. "Headmistress Aurora is requesting your presence." He said.

Headmistress Aurora?

I jumped up from my seat. "Let's go." That was the woman who could grant me my freedom and there was no way I would let an opportunity to meet her go just like that.

We walked in silence for about a minute. When I turned in the direction of her office, the guard directed me to the courtyard. There, all the students were gathered. Even though they all seemed to be around my age—I wasn't so sure about that. If they could heal themselves, they might have the power to stay young forever—I stuck out like a sore thumb.

"What's she doing here?" The girl with the waterfall of white-blonde hair snarled the moment she spotted me.

"You are here." Headmistress Aurora said, looking at me. A little bit of displeasure radiated from her voice. Then she ignored me. "As we all know, tonight is one of the rare times where we get the Blood moon before the full moon rises. It is on this day that we can all shift and grow our wolves in strength and power under this rare power. So to everyone here today, I say congratulations." She addressed the camp.

Everything she said was foreign to me, but as the people around howled and screamed in pure ecstasy, I knew it had to do with their abnormalities.

"Now, it is time." The headmistress announced, pointing toward the sky.

I looked up, trying to see if there would be anything different. Apart from how reddish the moon was, there was nothing special. Yet, they all yelled in excitement.

"Since we have Alpha heirs in our midst, we will give them the honor to shift first in respect to the command and authority they would hold in near future." The woman announced again. Her eyes scanned the crowd until she was satisfied.

"Alpha Heir Grayson Grant."

The sky-blue eyed guy stepped out.

"Alpha Heir Harrison Prescott."

The forest green eyes guy came out.

I watched in anticipation of what was about to happen. Two of them stared at me, their eyes undressing me in their mind. I blushed and lowered my gaze. If I didn't, I would be begging for them to have their ways with me right where the crowds were gathered.

Alpha Heir Gary."

A guy who looked slightly older than the first two guys stepped out of the crowd. His eyes were plain brown and his hair the regular jet-black. Apart from his sharp jawline and his harsh demeanor, there was nothing special about him. He looked at me briefly and took his gaze off.

"Can you all shift so the students under your pack authorities can do the same?"

And just like that, bones snapped, ripping the clothes they had on away. Skins were replaced by furs. Nails were replaced by claws. The tall, handsome men were replaced by four-legged beasts.

Howls rented the air, controlling the wind.

The students shifted simultaneously. So did headmistress Aurora. And the man who led me to their midst. Millions of howling filled the air as they all stared at the moon.

Then, darkness swallowed us.

I should be scared. Like yesterday when I first witnessed it, I should have raced out of the courtyard, afraid for my life. But my legs refused to move. Before I had time to panic, the glow of the moon returned. A sudden surge of heat blazed through my veins, making my body tingle. I shook my head, ignoring the odd feeling.

My eyes refused to stop staring at Grayson and Harrison who were now in their wolves' forms. The contrast between the two of them was clear.

While Grayson's wolf was white with golden eyes, Harrison had a black Wolf with eyes blazing red at anyone who dared. Even though it took my strength, I shifted my focus from them and took a look at the third Alpha heir's wolf. A soft gasp escaped from my lips. It was the most beautiful wolf I had ever seen.

His fur was the finest mixture of different colors, like rainbows, sparkling under the cast of the moonlight. His eyes, when he looked up at me, were the finest of black. They were like that of the devil who led you on to forever until you got in and realised you were in hell. But even at that, you would want to burn rather than leave.

My inside tingled and a smile crept at the corner of my lips, knowing that I wouldn't mind drowning in them, even if I would burn.

What was wrong with me? Why was I lusting after three men at once?

I averted my eyes as desire pooled the panties I had on. My eyes flew up, staring into the moonlight which was now hand darkened. I gasped as my body burned. I scratched, trying to get off the invisible force pulling at me.

"Arrrggghhh!" I screamed from pain.

I dropped to my knees, the world spinning. The last thing I saw before darkness swallowed me was the heirs lunging toward me from both sides, their howls overlapping.
