Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: I'm So Glad You're Okay

After descending the mountain, Dan Feng walked forward along the path. He was now heading to reunite with Roxy and the others.

Along the way, Dan Feng saw a great many adventurers heading up the mountain. He stopped one who looked approachable and asked.

"Brother, what are you all going up there for?" Dan Feng's tone sounded very puzzled, but he knew they were probably heading toward the azure dragon he had manifested.

"You don't know?" The adventurer looked at Dan Feng suspiciously. Since Dan Feng was walking in the opposite direction, he assumed Dan Feng had come down from the mountain and shouldn't be unaware of the recent phenomenon.

Dan Feng shook his head. Though his face was expressionless, his kind-looking features made others believe he wasn't lying.

The adventurer then told Dan Feng everything he had personally witnessed—something about a new monster, a flying giant serpent, how domineering and awe-inspiring it looked, and so on.

After finishing, the adventurer quickly said goodbye to Dan Feng and hurried upward on his own.

It seemed he really wanted to see that azure-green creature.

Having confirmed that they were indeed coming for the phenomenon he had created, Dan Feng decisively continued forward.

Not long after walking, he spotted a girl with water-blue hair and a woman whose face was concealed resting ahead.

Dan Feng quickly walked toward them.

Hearing footsteps, the two immediately turned their gazes toward the source of the sound.

When Roxy saw that the person approaching was Dan Feng, completely unharmed, her large water-blue eyes lit up. It was clear she was overjoyed.

"Dan Feng!" Roxy quickly stood up and trotted toward him.

Dan Feng looked at Roxy with a smiling expression as well.

"You're really okay! That's so great! Did you notice that azure-green creature? I thought..." Roxy's voice grew smaller and smaller as she spoke.

She had thought she would have to experience another farewell to a fallen companion.

"I told you—I'd do everything I could to survive." Dan Feng said unhurriedly. He really had come very close to dying. If the progress bar hadn't suddenly reached 30% in that critical moment, he would definitely have perished right in front of the Red Dragon's breath.

Afterward, Roxy began asking about the Red Dragon and the azure-green creature.

Her gaze rested on Dan Feng, expecting him to give a detailed account.

Dan Feng hesitated slightly, then said, "That azure-green creature suddenly appeared and fought the Red Dragon. I was so scared at the time that I couldn't see clearly and just ran away as fast as I could." His voice was very calm, showing no sign of having been terrified.

But Roxy and the others believed him completely! After hearing this, Roxy let out a relieved breath for Dan Feng.

She smiled at him and said, "Dan Feng, you're really lucky. To escape in such a dangerous situation—I'm so glad." This smile wasn't forced; it came from genuine happiness deep in her heart.

Dan Feng surviving already made her incredibly happy.

At this moment, for Roxy, Dan Feng was no longer just a traveling companion—he had become someone vitally important in her life.

Along the journey, it had mostly been Dan Feng taking care of her, whether in daily life or providing support when difficulties arose—he was attentive in every way.

Roxy's heart was filled with gratitude toward Dan Feng, and she had gradually come to see him as the most important person in her life.

Yet even as she rejoiced over his safety, a trace of confusion welled up inside her.

She began to wonder what exactly this feeling she had for Dan Feng really was.

It felt both special and like the closeness between good friends, yet it also seemed to go beyond ordinary friendship.

Roxy couldn't help but ask herself inwardly, "Is this feeling I have for Dan Feng... what people call 'liking' someone?"

For her, who had almost zero knowledge of romance, this question left her deeply bewildered.

She didn't know what this vague sensation truly meant, nor how she should face or handle it.

Unsure as she was, Roxy wouldn't rashly pursue it, so she tucked this confusion away in her heart, waiting to resolve it later.

"You know my weapon is a spear, right?" Dan Feng suddenly spoke up.

Roxy nodded in confusion, not understanding why Dan Feng was asking her this out of the blue.

"Since ancient times, spearmen have had Luck E."

Roxy: ?

"Huh? What kind of saying is that?"

"Nothing, just something I blurted out."

After resting for a short while, they continued onward.

They were now in the Usur territory of the Asura Kingdom. Dan Feng and the others successfully arrived at the first city in Asura Kingdom territory.

Upon arriving, Etrill immediately requested to part ways.

"Etrill, are you really leaving just here?" Roxy asked somewhat reluctantly.

Etrill smiled and nodded. "Yes, Roxy. This is where I stop."

"Thank you so much—you and Dan Feng have given me so much inspiration for my poetry, and thank you for bringing me all the way to the Asura Kingdom!" Her words were filled with sincere gratitude.

The bard Etrill thanked the two of them earnestly, then gently waved to them in a formal farewell.

"Bye-bye!" With that parting word, Etrill turned and left. Her figure gradually grew distant until it finally disappeared at the end of the street.

"Bye-bye!" Roxy waved back at Etrill, watching her go.

After saying goodbye to the bard, Dan Feng and Roxy felt a bit lost for a moment, unsure what to do next.

This city didn't have many sights worth touring for them.

It was more like a transit point—suitable for resupplying and taking a short rest.

But after the long trek through the Red Dragon Mountains, Dan Feng and Roxy now just wanted to rest properly and relax.

As for hurrying onward, there was still plenty of time—they weren't in a rush.

So the two wandered aimlessly through the city, enjoying this brief moment of leisure.

As they walked, they found an inn and decided to check in there for a good night's rest.

Here, the prices in the Asura Kingdom were on display before them—slightly higher than in the Shirone Kingdom, but this was just a remote city. They didn't dare imagine what prices would be like in the capital, Ars.

After putting away all their luggage, the two agreed to visit the adventurers' guild in the city together and then go eat afterward.

At the adventurers' guild, the two focused on the quest board. Fortunately, there were plenty of quests here—especially A-rank ones, which were countless.

Dan Feng and Roxy exchanged a glance and nodded in tacit understanding.

In the days to come, they would have plenty to do.

For example, speed-running the A-rank quests here and so on.
