Sarah could not close her eyes.
She lay on her side in bed, staring blankly at the small lamp on her nightstand. Its soft golden light illuminated the dark room, but it did nothing to ease the turmoil raging inside her chest. Her gaze remained fixed on the lamp, unfocused and distant, while countless thoughts tangled together inside her mind.
Jayden Lin's sudden proposal had left her completely bewildered. Even now, hours after returning home from that romantic dinner, she still had not given him an answer.
In fact, she had barely managed to finish the evening at all.
The ice cream he had ordered for her had looked beautiful and tasted amazing, yet she had not even finished half of it. Every bite had felt meaningless because her thoughts had been consumed by the shocking question he had dropped so casually, as though asking someone to marry him was no different from discussing tomorrow's schedule.
