In a small village, there lived a boy named Raju.
Everyone thought Raju was very foolish.
One day, the village teacher asked,
"Raju, if I give you 5 mangoes and you eat 2, how many will you have?"
Raju quickly said, "Five!"
The teacher got angry.
"No! You will have only three!"
Raju smiled and said,
"Sir, I already have two mangoes in my pocket. So five!"
The whole class started laughing.
Another day, his mother told him,
"Go to the market and buy one dozen bananas. But don't let the shopkeeper cheat you."
Raju went to the shop and said,
"Uncle, give me 12 bananas. And please count loudly."
The shopkeeper counted, "1, 2, 3… 12."
Raju nodded and said,
"Good. Now count again. I don't trust you."
After counting three times, the shopkeeper got tired and said,
"Take them and go!"
When Raju came home, his mother checked the bag.
There were 13 bananas!
She asked, "How did you get 13?"
Raju said proudly,
"While he was counting again and again, I added one extra!"
His mother sighed,
"Maybe you are not foolish… maybe you are too clever!"
From that day, the villagers stopped calling him a fool.
They called him "The Smartest Fool.
