(Greek Mythology) The Abyss
Chapter 98
When a spirit stopped her on its knees, begging to be scattered from the dead, Tarasa, who had just returned, was completely bewildered. She had only spent some time with Artemis, so why did the world seem so different after she returned?
#I've seen people courting death, but I've never seen anyone want to be scattered from the dead again for a complete annihilation. I don't know what kind of temper you have.#
#Is the world changing too fast, or am I just outdated? I really don't understand you kinds of spirits.#
#This is truly unbelievable. Can you understand the feelings of us gods?#
Before Tarasa could react, Hermes rushed over and casually remarked, "Hahaha, I find this spirit rather pleasing to the eye. Can I take him away? Hahaha."
Although the exact words were definitely not those, that's roughly the gist of it.
Tarasa: Heh, do you think I'm stupid? Even a ghost wouldn't believe you.
The ghost, just labeled brain-dead by Tarasa: Of course I don't believe it.
After much pleading without getting Tarasa to budge, Hermes finally told the truth, explaining that it was Zeus's order, and he had no choice but to take the spirit back. He then lamented his forced compliance, pleading with Tarasa for leniency.
Although he didn't know what Zeus was really up to, seeing Hermes's willingness to feign pitifulness to take the soul indicated its importance. Adhering to the principle that whatever the gods support must be opposed, Tarasa fully understood Hermes's situation and firmly refused.
"Although I'm from the underworld, I'm not the god of the underworld. Strictly speaking, I belong to the sea god. This kind of thing is none of my business. Your pleas won't help."
"As for why I'm stopping you...→_→
The soul is already in the underworld. If you want to take it, you should at least tell them! Come on, I'll go with you to find Hades."
What a reasonable, convincing, and well-founded reason! Tarasa thought to herself that she was incredibly understanding.
When Hades was mentioned, Hermes shamefully chickened out. It was universally acknowledged that Hades was a responsible and dedicated man; there was no way he would agree to such a thing.
After quickly dealing with Hermes, Tarasa packed up the spirit and took it back, intending to present it as a gift to Princess Ai Miye.
Her intuition told her that there must be something interesting here, something that would pique Princess Ai Miye's interest.
"What? You say this breaks the rules?"
"Don't worry, those rules are for the outer gods, to prevent them from constantly coming to resurrect someone. As long as the internal personnel don't go too far or cause any trouble, you can do whatever you want with them. It's just a spirit; take it if you want, nobody cares."
"Name?" Tarasa asked.
"I need to find out who it is first. I can't just give away an unknown soul." Just imagine, what if His Highness asked her who this was, and she replied that she didn't know? The image was too beautiful for her to bear.
"Ganymedes," the spirit... ah, no, Ganymedes answered honestly.
"Ganymedes?" Tarasa repeated with amusement, somewhat surprised, then burst into laughter.
Although Ganymedes was just a human, he was a very famous one, so famous that many gods knew him, Tarasa being one of them.
And Ganymedes' greatest presence was that he amply illustrated a truth: these days, not only are goddesses/humans/fairies unsafe, but even men aren't safe.
Ganymedes was originally a prince of Troy. One day, Zeus took a liking to his beauty, and Ganymedes was abducted from Mount Ida by Zeus, who had transformed into a giant eagle.
It feels like everyone's chastity is no longer guaranteed! The beautiful ones have Zeus, who doesn't discriminate between men and women; the ugly ones have Poseidon, whose aesthetic sense is warped. It's simply unbearable.
Indeed, in Greek mythology, to live peacefully, besides maxing out your fighting skills, the only other option is to be of average appearance. So sad. (~ ̄△ ̄)~
Normally, the next development would be that King Zhou (Zhou Yousi), to win a smile from his beloved Hebe, used the beacon fire (a metaphor for mocking the noblewomen) to punish them, accusing Hebe of stumbling while pouring wine, and using this as an excuse to dismiss her from her position, replacing her with Ganymede.
Then, because her daughter was replaced and out of jealousy towards her rival, Queen Hera harbored resentment towards Ganymede, plotting to kill the beautiful youth and turning him into a water bottle. Zeus, heartbroken, sealed Ganymede's soul in the heavens, making him the constellation Aquarius.
Finally, Zeus, truly enamored with the boy, disregarded Hera's ever-present jealousy and restored Ganymede to human form. Ganymede also fell in love with Zeus and remained forever in the heavens, standing beside him, smiling, pouring delicious divine wine for the gods.
The End. Happy Ending.
This is the comedic love story between the king of the gods and the handsome Aquarius boy that circulated widely recently.
However, as a narrator, I can responsibly spoil it: Ganymede should have a parenthesis after his name, with the words "Time Travel Version" written in large letters.
So, after such a happy ending, a few dark-themed epilogues wouldn't be unreasonable, hahaha.
After becoming Aquarius, Ganymede was no longer human. While merely a difference between a weakling with a combat power of -5 and a complete loser, he at least possessed some fighting ability. Ganymede then used his time to cultivate goodwill among the beings of Mount Olympus, acquiring a dagger capable of harming even the gods.
Ultimately, leveraging the convenience of his bedmate, Ganymede, though failing to kill Zeus, successfully stabbed him severely, nearly crippling his manhood. His cruelty was utterly inhuman and monstrous.
Having severely wounded the king of the gods, and knowing he would face retribution, Ganymede decisively committed suicide. By the time Zeus recovered and sent Hermes to capture Ganymede's soul, Ganymede had already reached the entrance to the underworld, only to be forced to turn back after encountering Thalassa.
