Chapter 1 - Unfinished Monsoon

Neel and Meghna first met in their university library. Neel was quiet and introverted, while Meghna was his complete opposite—lively and full of energy. Their love was gentle and warm, like the soft sunlight of an autumn afternoon. Neel used to write diaries for Meghna, and Meghna would tuck petals of her favorite wildflowers between the pages.

No one could measure the depth of their love. Neel would often say, "Meghna, if someday I get lost, will you come looking for me?" Meghna would laugh and reply, "Why would you ever get lost? I will always be your shadow."

But perhaps fate was smiling quietly in the background. Meghna's marriage was arranged with a wealthy businessman. Under family pressure, she had to leave the city without telling Neel anything. Before leaving, she sent him only one letter:

"Don't let our story end, Neel. I will return."

Ten years passed. Neel is now a successful writer. He never married. On the dedication page of every one of his books, he writes: "The waiting still lives on." He does not know where Meghna is.

One rainy evening, Neel opened his old diary. He saw that the dried flower petals had now turned to dust and were falling apart. Suddenly, his phone screen lit up. A message arrived from an unknown number:

"Is the last page of your diary still blank?"

Neel stepped onto the balcony. The rain outside was growing heavier. He did not know whether the message was from Meghna or just an illusion of his own longing. He did not reply. He simply looked at the rain and smiled.

The story paused there, but Neel's waiting and Meghna's uncertain return remained suspended in the air—like a melancholic melody blending softly with the sound of the rain.
