Chapter 19 - cupid

Chapter: Cupid? No. Chaos Coordinator. (Jay's POV)

I didn't plan on becoming a relationship therapist.

Especially not for Section E.

Especially not for Calix.

But here we are.

I met her near the library.

She was sitting alone, earphones in, staring at absolutely nothing.

Pretty. Calm. Sad.

I don't usually approach people first.

But something about her expression felt… familiar.

Like the "I'm fine but not really fine" look.

I sat beside her without asking.

She removed one earbud slowly. "Yes?"

"I'm Jay. Section E."

Her eyes widened slightly. "Oh."

That "oh" told me she'd heard about me.

Great. My reputation walks faster than me.

"And you are?" I asked.

"Mica. Section C."

Mica.

Nice name.

We sat in silence for a moment.

Then I noticed something.

She kept opening her phone… then locking it again.

Over and over.

"Waiting for someone to text?" I asked casually.

She smiled sadly. "Not anymore."

Ah.

Breakup.

I know that face.

"Who hurt you?" I asked directly.

She blinked. "You're straightforward."

"I don't like wasting time."

She hesitated.

Then said quietly, "Calix."

Pause.

Brain loading.

Calix.

Section E Calix?

Tall. Quiet. Acts cool. Pretends he doesn't care about anything?

THAT Calix?

I leaned back. "You're his girlfriend?"

"Was," she corrected softly. "We broke up three days ago."

Three days ago???

And this idiot has been acting normal???

Unacceptable.

"Why?" I asked.

She sighed. "Misunderstandings. Ego. Silence. You know… typical."

Oh I know.

Section E boys and their fragile pride.

"Do you still like him?" I asked.

She didn't even hesitate.

"Yes."

Okay.

Mission accepted.

Next period, I walked into class like I was about to announce war.

Keifer.

Yuri.

Cin.

David.

Emman.

Eren.

Rory.

Wrdix.

Mayo.

Kit.

Blaster.

Calix.

Felix.

All present.

All loud.

All useless in emotional matters.

I dropped my bag loudly.

"Calix."

He looked up. "What."

"Why did you break up with Mica?"

Entire class froze.

Keifer slowly turned to him.

Yuri whispered, "Oh no…"

Calix frowned. "Why do you care?"

"Answer the question."

He leaned back in his chair. "It's none of your business."

I smiled sweetly.

"It is now."

Felix covered his face. "She found out."

Cin whispered, "Run."

Calix sighed. "We argued."

"About?"

"Stupid stuff."

"Like?"

He hesitated.

Keifer crossed his arms, watching me carefully.

"Jealousy," Calix muttered.

My eyebrow lifted.

"Who?"

He stayed silent.

That silence told me everything.

"You," I said.

The class went "OHHHH."

Calix shot them a glare.

"I wasn't jealous," he muttered.

"You broke up because you were jealous?" I asked.

He didn't answer.

Which means yes.

I turned dramatically to the class.

"Congratulations. Section E has officially mastered emotional stupidity."

Blaster laughed. "She's not wrong."

Keifer was quiet.

Too quiet.

Watching me.

Again.

Ignore him.

Focus.

Lunch break.

I dragged Calix outside.

"Yes, dragged."

He resisted.

Didn't work.

"Listen," I said, stopping near the stairs. "She still likes you."

He blinked. "She told you that?"

"Yes."

He looked away.

"She deserves better."

"Then be better."

He looked at me sharply.

That shut him up.

"Why are you even helping?" he asked.

I shrugged. "Because I don't like unfinished stories."

And because I saw how she looked at her phone.

And because I hate watching people pretend they don't care.

"Do you still like her?" I asked.

He didn't hesitate.

"Yes."

Idiot.

"Then apologize."

"I already did."

"Properly?"

Silence.

Exactly.

Later, I "accidentally" brought Mica near Section E corridor.

And "coincidentally" Calix was there.

I stepped back quietly.

Keifer noticed.

He walked beside me.

"You're matchmaking now?"

"Shut up."

He smirked. "You care too much."

"At least someone here does."

We both watched as Calix and Mica stood awkwardly.

He scratched his neck.

She avoided eye contact.

Classic.

Then finally—

"I'm sorry," Calix said properly this time.

She looked up.

Tears slightly forming.

"I was insecure. I shouldn't have pushed you away."

Section E boys behind us were pretending not to watch.

Terrible actors.

Mica smiled softly. "I'm sorry too."

And just like that—

They hugged.

Rory whispered loudly, "LET'S GOOOOO."

David slapped him. "Shut up."

Felix grinned. "Therapist Jay strikes again."

I crossed my arms proudly.

See?

I'm not just chaos.

I'm productive chaos.

As everyone celebrated dramatically, I felt someone staring again.

Keifer.

Of course.

"What?" I asked.

He tilted his head slightly.

"You fix everyone else."

"So?"

"Who fixes you?"

My chest paused.

Why does he ask things like that?

"I don't need fixing," I said lightly.

He stepped closer.

"Everyone does."

For a second…

The noise around us faded.

Then Yuri screamed, "Group hug!"

Ruined.

Completely ruined.

But as I walked away—

I realized something.

I helped Calix fight his jealousy.

But I still haven't figured out mine.

And that?

Is a problem.
