One Year Later.
Yuji Itadori was, by every reasonable definition, an abnormal teenager. Not because he would one day become the vessel of the King of Curses. No, the truly abnormal thing about Yuji was his physical ability.
The boy could throw a shot put farther than trained athletes. He could sprint faster than most adults. He possessed strength that bordered on the ridiculous despite having no cursed energy training whatsoever. If he had chosen to pursue sports seriously, there was little doubt he would have become a national-level athlete within a few years.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, Yuji's interests lay elsewhere.
Rather than joining one of the school's sports clubs, he spent his afternoons with the Occult Research Club. Officially, the club investigated supernatural phenomena. Unofficially, they mostly sat around discussing urban legends and ghost stories while enjoying the freedom that came from being part of a club nobody took seriously.
For Yuji, that was enough.
It allowed him to spend time with his friends while still having enough free time to visit his grandfather in the hospital. That ordinary life might have continued for years if fate had not had other devious plans.
Everything began when members of the Occult Research Club obtained a strange object sealed with talismans. To ordinary people, it appeared to be nothing more than a dried, mummified finger. Disgusting, certainly, but otherwise harmless. They took it while thinking it must be some realistic prank material.
The reality was far more dangerous. The object was one of the twenty preserved fingers of Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses.
Each finger acted as a powerful cursed object capable of attracting cursed spirits from vast distances. The moment the seal surrounding it was disturbed by the students, curses immediately began converging upon the school in search for that finger.
At roughly the same time, a first-year student from Tokyo Jujutsu High arrived to retrieve the object, and his name was Megumi Fushiguro.
Megumi tracked the cursed finger and realized that the seal had already been removed by someone, and worse still, the finger was not in his possession but someone else's.
The situation rapidly spiraled out of control when the Night fell as the Curses infiltrated the school grounds.
Yuji's friends found themselves trapped inside the building while powerful cursed spirits closed in from all directions. Megumi attempted to protect them, but the number of curses continued to increase. Against ordinary cursed spirits, Megumi could fight. Against the swarm currently descending upon the school, even he was being pushed to his limits.
The battle quickly turned desperate.
Yuji witnessed firsthand the reality of the hidden world that existed alongside normal society. He saw monsters that should not exist. He saw Megumi risking his life to protect complete strangers. Most importantly, he saw that his friends were moments away from being killed.
At that moment, Yuji made a decision. A decision that would alter the course of countless lives. Holding Sukuna's finger in his hand, Yuji came to a simple conclusion.
If curses gained power by consuming the finger, then perhaps he could gain that power as well. Before Megumi could stop him, Yuji swallowed the cursed object.
For one horrifying moment, nothing happened, then cursed energy exploded throughout the building.
A presence so monstrous that even experienced sorcerers instinctively feared it awoke from Yuji's body, and the name for that monstrosity is Ryomen Sukuna.
Sukuna only gained control for a moment as Yuji regained control of his body back.
The feat was so absurd that it defied conventional understanding. By all logic, Sukuna should have taken over immediately, yet Yuji stood there.
Using the power he had obtained, Yuji successfully helped Megumi eliminate the curses threatening his friends. The immediate crisis was resolved, but a far larger problem had been created. A human capable of containing Sukuna could not simply be ignored.
Shortly afterward, Yuji was taken into custody by the jujutsu authorities and brought before the higher-ups of Jujutsu Society. Their judgment was swift and unsurprising.
Execute him.
And that's where I came in. To support not-so-good-looking Gojo, who opposed the decision of executing Yuji.
