Chapter 101 - Ch 101: Kidnapping

While looking around the school grounds, I finally spotted the source of the problem and the one I am looking for.

"There they are."

Mai followed my gaze. Near the back of the school building, where fewer students passed by, three boys and one girl had surrounded a thin, dark-haired teenager. Their posture, expressions, and the amusement in their eyes made it painfully obvious what was happening.

One of the boys held Junpei's school bag while another was saying something that made the others laugh. Meanwhile, the girl stood with her arms folded, watching the whole thing like it was entertainment.

But I didn't want to be so entertained by harming others. Is it fulfilling like taking revenge? I need to ask them later.

Mai narrowed her eyes. "Is that the boy you called Junpei?" Mai pointed to the boy kneeling on the ground. "Don't we need to stop them?"

I smiled. "Of course. We need to stop them and make sure it is permanent. Just follow my lead, Mai."

Saying so, without rushing, I simply walked toward them. "What is going on here?"

The sudden voice caused everyone present to turn.

Junpei's eyes widened. For a brief moment, hope appeared on his face. To him, I probably looked like a savior descending from heaven. Unfortunately, I ignored him entirely, making him think that I had come here for an entirely different reason.

Mai also raised her eyebrows at what Naoya was playing, since he was here to help the boy; he was making it look like he was here for the bullies. Mai smells whatever Naoya is cooking is sinister.

My eyes landed on the blond-haired boy standing at the center. His name is Shota Ito, the ringleader of this cruel circus.

While I forgot how he looked from the anime, reading the report from the spy, I, from my imagination, gave a brief sketch of what he would look like, and he looked exactly like what I imagined. Arrogant face, expensive shoes, and the confidence of someone who had never faced consequences.

I shifted my gaze toward Junpei. "Scam."

Junpei blinked. "Huh?"

"I have something to discuss with this group. So scam."

Junpei hesitated for several seconds. He looked between me and the four students, confusion and uncertainty warring across his face. Whatever image he had built in his head about me arriving to rescue him had probably shattered, because from his perspective, I had completely ignored his situation and focused entirely on the group tormenting him.

"What the hell are you doing, bitch?" one of the boys sneered, clearly annoyed that I wasn't acknowledging him.

I ignored the comment completely and kept my eyes on Junpei. "Didn't you hear what I just said? Scram. Otherwise, my fist will personally introduce you to the afterlife."

Junpei froze at that comment, then, perhaps deciding that getting beaten by his bullies was preferable to getting involved with whatever insanity I represented, he hurried away.

Seeing his retreating figure, I finally turned my attention toward the four little comedians, and immediately, they misunderstood something.

Shota grinned. "Thought so. I knew you weren't here for that loser."

Another one of Shota's lackeys snorted. "Guy probably thought we were friends."

The girl looked at Mai and, as if she got permission to speak, said, "Oh? Is this your girlfriend? Damn, your standards are low."

My Zenin blood was boiling at the thought: Why is a girl like her outside the kitchen? The nerve for her to interfere when men are talking. Bitches crawling everywhere.

(A/N: It's a joke. Please don't take offense to this.)

Mai's eyebrow twitched at the thought that a woman, whose nose looked like it had to pay air tax, is talking about standards.

The third boy laughed. "Maybe she's just easy. Look at her; she has the presence of a prostitute. What is it priced at, bro? 10 yen a pop."

Hearing that, I just smile, as it is such a good joke; I always laugh at good jokes, and I have never heard a joke this funny, and look, these four daredevils have already started to laugh at the joke.

"Good luck," Mai whispered. I didn't know if she said that to me or towards the four that were laughing, and for some reason, she took three steps backward. Like, why? I am just smiling.

Shota apparently took this as fear. He smirked and stepped closer to me. "What? You got a problem with what we said?"

"No."

"You sure?"

"No."

The second boy cracked his knuckles. "What are you staring at?"

"Nothing." I maintained my smile. I thought my innocent smile would at least calm the raging heat around us.

"God!! I can see his veins from here!!" Mai murmured to herself. What vein is she even talking about?

The third one shoved me. "Are you looking down on us, asshole?" Seemingly trying to declare his presence as the top of the food chain.

"No. Look, even my leg is shaking." I pointed to my perfectly steady leg. It seem he likes my response as he grin and said,

"Then apologize."
