Chapter 2 - The Awakening Of A Heart Of Stone

Beneath the obsidian skies of New York — under the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge at midnight —

a young man sits within a makeshift shelter of discarded scraps, forging his future by reading abandoned books taken from those greater than himself.

Taking his courage into his own hands, he opens his satchel, searching for the peculiar book he found earlier that day.

"Ah… yes. Here it is," the young man murmurs.

Latin covers the front part of the book,

"Chaos et libertas, tela catenarum occultarum" by a certain Walter P.

He begins to pry the book open, its thick, stubborn pages demanding more strength than he expected.

The introduction reads-"To the world that became my cage: i spread this knowledge. Let it destroy what you believe to be freedom."

Time loses all meaning. Seconds stretch into minutes, minutes into dozens, and hours slip away unnoticed. Hunger, thirst, and fatigue fade into the background, drowned in the storm of knowledge that takes hold of the reader's mind.

Each page offers new knowledge: from the grim craft of doomsdays to meditations on defying society and the nature of existence itself. The young man's mind stirs and stretches, drowning in ideas yet discovering himself anew with every revelation.

Living begins only when what is loved is destroyed, when the self-made prison of desire, duty, and expectation is shattered. To awaken the true self, to set ablaze the fire within, and to break free from the chains that society drapes upon you.

"I am Walter Pharma, born into wealth and indulgence. I had all I could desire, yet I wander, lost and found, amid the chaos of an unbound world. I have forsaken everything — riches, family, status — in search of one thing: truth. A world where invisible chains are broken, where the human spirit is not consumed by ash, and where the fire of the mind ignites with infinite meaning. This is my dream, my hope, my ambition, my very reason for being."

The words burn into his consciousness:"If the world rejects me… if society despises me… if my heart is aflame, I will force others to feel pain, suffering, and the chaos that frees the mind."

And then the book seems to shout:"To be beneath others is to stand at the peak beneath the heavens. Take your revenge. Kill to survive. Do whatever you will! You are the freest mind under the system! NO ONE CARES!"

The words slam into him, igniting a chaotic fire that refuses to be tamed.

The boy's mind becomes a storm — a torrent of emotion and thought, fire blazing through the very core of his being.

Hatred for the cruelty of others, anger at the world's indifference to his pain. A quiet joy at the discovery of a book he could call his own And nostalgia, as buried memories surfaced, demanding recognition once more.

A voice slashes through his concentration:"Hey, fuckface! you goddamn BUM! You gonna answer, or are you too busy daydreaming?!"

The younger man stands there, equal parts frustration and pride, daring him to react.

He is alone. No friends are near, no familiar presence comforts him. The world grows darker as the night begins to slowly

the bubbling anger shows in his eyes, the shouting of the teen and his pride overshadows his anguish of the situation.

"Come on, man, enough screwing around!"

He's grabbed by the throat and slammed upright. His back hits the wall, the book crashes to the floor, and pure anger burns in his gaze.

The younger man's fists hammer his stomach. He bites down hard, taking it. A rib fractures. His stomach screams, his lungs choke, but he does not collapse.

In that instant, he chooses defiance. He will no longer obey the chains. His fist smashes into the side of the younger fucker's skull. The younger man reels, but he does not relent. He strikes again and again, fists hammering ribs, stomach, and shoulders, each hit a declaration of defiance.

He finishes it. His hands close around the bastard's throat. The man flails, choking, fighting for each ragged breath, but the grip never loosens.

After a brief struggle, all movement stops.

Crracckk

The loud crack reverberates, final and undeniable.

A laugh rips from his chest, uncontrollable and bitter. His mouth curves into a smile, and the sound fills the atmosphere:

"Pfffahh ahahaha… HA HA HA HAHAHAHAAAHAHAA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

It is a laugh of suffering, of liberation, and of the chaos now roaring within him.

His laughter spills into the fading night, a wild, unrestrained sound that stretches across the sleeping city. Time stretches, dissolves, and as it does, the pale fingers of dawn begin to pierce the darkness.
