He opened one of the files briefly before speaking without looking at her. "You've been staring for three minutes."
Daniella immediately looked away. "I was not."
A faint hum left him. Disbelieving again.
Daniella narrowed her eyes slightly before moving toward the large windows overlooking the capital skyline far below.
The city stretched endlessly beneath the morning haze. Powerful. Restless. Dangerous. Somewhere out there sat the Ybarra family. Somewhere out there existed answers about her mother. And somehow, she was now standing inside the center of Santiago Torres Mendoza's life while knowing almost nothing about how she had truly ended up here.
The thought unsettled her quietly.
Behind her, papers shifted softly.
Then Santiago finally spoke again. "I'll be gone for several hours."
Daniella turned slightly.
He had already buttoned the cuffs properly again. Cold composure fully restored. "The staff will stay nearby if you need anything."
She nodded lightly.
