"They're running."
"They're trying to."
Mateo turned another page.
"We've frozen three of their financial channels, intercepted two shipments that were supposed to leave the docks before dawn, and identified six warehouses they're currently using."
Santiago quietly listened.
"What about their leadership?"
"We still haven't confirmed the location of Salvatore himself."
Mateo's expression became more serious.
"But our intelligence suggests he crossed the border yesterday."
Santiago rested one elbow against the window and looked out at the deserted streets passing by.
"So..."
"They sacrificed one pawn..."
"...to protect the king."
"That's our assessment."
A faint smile appeared on Santiago's face.
"Then let the king enjoy his freedom."
Mateo looked at him, slightly surprised.
"We're not pursuing him?"
Santiago slowly shook his head.
"A man who abandons his own people after the first setback isn't dangerous."
His gaze remained fixed on the passing lights outside.
