Chapter 2: A New Challenge
The next morning, Amara walked into school with a big smile on her face. She was still happy about coming first in Mathematics.
Her classmates congratulated her.
"Congratulations, Amara!" one of them said.
"Thank you!" Amara replied happily.
When the teacher entered the classroom, everyone quickly took their seats.
"Good morning, class," the teacher said.
"Good morning, ma!" the students answered.
The teacher smiled and placed some papers on her desk.
"Since Amara came first in Mathematics, I have decided to give the class a new challenge."
Everyone became curious.
"What challenge, ma?" a student asked.
The teacher explained that the school would soon hold a Mathematics Competition, and the best students in the class would represent them.
Amara's heart beat faster.
She wanted to participate, but she suddenly became nervous.
What if I fail? she thought.
Then she remembered something important: she had never given up before.
Amara raised her hand.
"Ma, I would like to participate."
The teacher smiled.
"That is the spirit, Amara."
After school, Amara stayed behind to practise. Some questions were easy, while others were extremely difficult.
She got one wrong.
Then another.
For a moment, she felt like giving up.
But Amara looked at her notebook and smiled.
"I didn't come this far to stop now."
She picked up her pencil and tried again.
This time, she solved the question correctly.
Amara packed her books and walked home proudly.
She knew the competition would not be easy.
But she was ready for whatever came next.
This time around, Amara was determined to prove that one victory was only the beginning.
