"What do you mean by that?"

Kakashi stared at him, genuinely puzzled, unable to read the other boy's intentions.

A peace offering?

Or just another way to apply pressure and show off?

Shinichi let out a small sigh, his tone shifting to something more sincere. "The things I said to you that day on the training ground were probably too harsh. I apologize, Kakashi."

He met Kakashi's suddenly complicated gaze and kept going. "Just now, at the very last second, you instinctively tried to redirect Chidori. That tells me that even though you see me as a rival, you still consider me a comrade—not an enemy. For comrades, we shouldn't just compete. We should help each other, learn from each other, and cover each other's weaknesses."

Kakashi stayed quiet for a beat, then looked away. "Help each other? My Chidori got completely overpowered by you. What could I possibly help you with?"

"Don't sell yourself short, Kakashi." Shinichi shook his head. The Rasengan hovering above his palm quietly vanished. "I've been diving deep into chakra nature transformation lately—especially advanced control and application of Fire Release. The approach you took with Chidori, pushing Lightning Release to extreme activation and high-frequency stimulation, actually gave me a lot of inspiration."

Shinichi pointed at the ground where Kakashi's charge had left marks. "When you trigger that thrust, you have to use highly activated and compressed Lightning chakra to forcibly stimulate and wrap around specific cakra path and muscle groups in your arm and legs to get that instantaneous explosive acceleration, right? That's why your charge speed hit that level earlier."

He pointed at himself with a faint smile. "As for me, I'm currently figuring out how to safely and efficiently weave Fire-nature chakra into every part of my body's movement system. I'm trying to build a complete Fire Release Nintaijutsu framework."

"In the cutting-edge field of deeply fusing a specific attribute chakra with the physical body to unlock potential, your Chidori is a successful first attempt. The experience you gained, the problems you ran into, even the detours you took—they're all extremely valuable references and sources of inspiration for me."

Shinichi looked straight at Kakashi, speaking with complete honesty. "So, Kakashi? Interested in researching this together? Maybe we can fill in each other's gaps and find the missing pieces that will make us both stronger."

Kakashi fell silent again. After several long seconds, he turned his head slightly and answered in his usual flat, emotionless tone:

"Do whatever you want."

A faint, almost imperceptible smile curved at the corner of Shinichi's mouth.

...

Three days later, Land of Iron, Akakō City, a secluded courtyard.

SCREEEEE—SCREEEEE—SCREEEEE!!!

The familiar piercing cry of a thousand birds exploded through the yard. But compared to the version in Kakashi's hands, this one sounded more refined—less wild, with an added cold, metallic edge.

Isshin stood with his right palm open. A highly compressed, violently flickering ball of dazzling lightning screeched and condensed in his hand—stable in form, blindingly bright.

The unique activating energy of Lightning Release, carrying that faint paralyzing tingle, spread upward through the cakra path of his arm and legs, stimulating every muscle fiber and flooding him with raw power and speed.

"Tch."

Isshin studied the dangerous lightning in his palm, feeling the unique activating effect it had on his body. A signature grin—carrying just a hint of madness—spread across his face.

"Not that hard, huh? Mastered it in three days flat."

This clone body, fused from his own essence and the Ape Demon King's bloodline genes, had developed an interesting split in chakra affinity.

Instead of inheriting the main body's pure Fire nature, it had awakened Lightning Release.

Over the past year, aside from honing his swordsmanship in the Land of Iron, challenging dojos left and right, and putting the principles of combat into practice, Isshin had poured the rest of his energy into exploring and training Lightning Release ninjutsu.

Having an independent attribute specialty, it would be a waste not to make full use of it.

Who knows? Maybe one day he'd earn titles like Lightning Blade Sword Saint or Lightning General.

Plus, it would set the main body up perfectly to pick up Lightning Release quickly later on.

The core principle of Kakashi's Chidori—extreme activation and compression of Lightning chakra to stimulate the body for explosive thrusting power—wasn't difficult at all for Isshin. He already had a solid foundation in Lightning training, an overwhelmingly powerful physique, and razor-sharp control over his strength.

"Maybe I can use Chidori as the base concept and create a Lightning Release Chakra Mode that belongs only to this clone body."

Isshin dispersed the lightning in his palm, eyes gleaming with ambition.

Lightning Release was already known among the five basic natures for its overwhelming offensive power and piercing ability. What he valued even more was its capacity to activate and stimulate bodily cells through chakra, delivering massive boosts to strength and speed. For someone walking the pure body-tempering and ferocious combat path like him, it was the perfect supplement and evolution.

Of course, directly stimulating cells with violent Lightning Release was extremely dangerous. Ordinary shinobi could easily suffer meridian burns, muscle dissolution, or permanent hidden injuries. But his body—fused with the Ape Demon King's bloodline and boosted by multiple traits—had endurance far beyond imagination.

What's more, he planned to reallocate his traits again soon, transferring the powerful recovery Blue trait [Endless Vitality] from the main body to this clone.

With that kind of insane self-healing, he'd have a rock-solid safety net for trial and error—enough to support him on an even more dangerous, and far more powerful, path of Lightning Release body tempering.

Kakashi, you really are my lucky star.

How is this wool getting better the more I shear it?

A sly curve tugged at the corner of Isshin's mouth.

"Sensei."

Motoya Yamagami appeared at the doorway. He bowed respectfully. "Chairman Yagyu sent a messenger. He requests your presence at the Sword Association headquarters conference hall right away."

The Sword Association headquarters conference hall?

Who's gone and filed a complaint this time?

All I did was fire a few shots during a sword match.

Is that really necessary?

Isshin stroked his chin, then answered casually, "Got it."

"Yes, Sensei." Motoya bowed and withdrew.

At the entrance to the Sword Association headquarters' old-fashioned, solemn conference hall, two warriors in standard Land of Iron armor stood like gate guardians, one on each side.

"You guys aren't even going to search me? You know, check if I'm carrying any weapons?"

Looking at Isshin—who stood there openly holding a sword in one hand, a halberd resting on his shoulder, and a firelock pistol hanging conspicuously at his waist—the two guards' mouths twitched in unison.

"Master Isshin, please stop joking with us small fries. Hurry inside. The Chairman and all the other masters are waiting for you."
