It was almost instantaneous, and the same was true for Rose. The two could be called the chosen son and daughter of destiny.
Upon receiving this news, Mother Miranda immediately rushed to find the residence of the couple, Ethan and Mia Winters. As luck would have it the two were living a happy, secluded life in a small town within her own territory in Romania. Upon learning this, Mother Miranda decisively arrived at their home.
Using the power of the Mold, she imperceptibly Simulated the appearance of Ethan's wife, Mia, and kidnapped the real Mia, hiding her away.
She then took Mia's place as Ethan's wife. The two lived together for a period of time, during which Ethan was kept completely in the dark.
Uh in a certain sense Ethan was a lucky man, actually living with Miranda, an old woman who was nearly a hundred and fifty years old.
One wonders if they ever shared any intimate moments.
And here, it seems one can understand Miranda.
Why, when destroying the transport vehicle and fleeing with Rose, she didn't just kill Ethan? Most likely because she couldn't bear to lose Ethan, the second man to favor her (funny).
Mother Miranda's movements did not escape Chris's surveillance.
Upon learning that Mother Miranda had gone to Ethan's home Chris realized things were bad. He immediately led his Werewolf Squad to Ethan's residence, broke in without a word, and opened fire frantically.
They shot the Mother Miranda disguised as Mia, but Mother Miranda took the opportunity to play dead and deceive the Werewolf Squad members.
During the process, Ethan frantically questioned Chris, his former captain, why he had killed his wife, Mia.
But Chris, likely fearing Ethan would find the truth hard to accept, simply acted as a man of mystery and didn't answer. At that moment, Ethan gradually lost consciousness.
Afterward during transport, the BSAA transport vehicle was attacked and overturned.
Ethan remained unconscious until he woke up and found himself wandering near a remote village.
To save his daughter Ethan intended to follow the footprints left on the ground. This was the beginning of Resident Evil Village
But to be honest— the plot here is quite nonsensical.
Although it serves as foreshadowing for the story's development, it must be mentioned that this forced integration feels extremely disjointed, as if all logical thinking had been discarded.
First, the most laughable part is Mother Miranda.
She is such a powerful boss in the village, possessing an immortal body. Even if every bullet from Chris's Werewolf Squad was loaded with the necrotic toxin for e-mold with her own power wiping out Chris and his team wouldn't have been difficult at all.
Yet she chose to play dead to escape.
And Chris didn't even bother to give Mother Miranda a finishing blow; all his previous experience fighting bosses seemed to have vanished from his mind.
Second is the transport vehicle.
Fine, so Chris wants to be a man of mystery but why, during transport, did they stuff Mother Miranda, Ethan, and Rose all into one container? Couldn't they have separated them?
Knowing Mother Miranda was after Rose, they still stuffed a group of people into one van for transport. Like delivering a package, it was so careless.
And when Mother Miranda attacked the transport vehicle where did Chris go? As the captain, he actually felt comfortable letting these important figures be sent away like that. Shouldn't he have escorted them the whole way?
Third and finally, Romania seems way too small.
Is this place only as big as a palm? A group of BSAA people could drive right next to Mother Miranda's base, the village. That's just ridiculous.
After attacking the vehicle, she just happily trotted back to the village holding Rose.
This is truly absurd. If the two were really that close, the village wouldn't have remained isolated for so long without being discovered.
Instead of including this illogical plot, it would have been more reasonable to just have Mother Miranda forcibly take Rose away in a brief scene
Volume 10 Resident Evil Village, Vengeance: Chapter 13 Entering the Village
Inside a wooden hut in the snow—
"Where is this"
"Mia, Rose where did you all go? And that bastard Chris, why did he attack us?!"
Memories surged like a tide. At this moment, the fragmented memories in Ethan's head finally pieced together, and he understood the sequence of events.
Just a short while ago his BSAA senior, Chris, led a team to attack his home, shot his beloved wife Mia, and snatched away his daughter Rose.
He himself had fallen into a coma.
Until he woke up and found himself stranded in a deserted wooden hut in the snow. The cold wind blew around him, turning Ethan's fingers red with cold.
Unlike in the original story Ethan didn't wake up in the overturned transport vehicle; he was directly moved to the wooden hut in the snow.
He was likely carried here by the Lycans who attacked the transport vehicle. They originally intended to eat Ethan as well.
But after taking a bite, the Lycans discovered
that the blood in Ethan's body was exactly the same as the Mold they were infected with. Ultimately, having no way to proceed, the Lycans abandoned Ethan in the hut.
"Huff, huff, huff"
"Aaaahhh!!!!"
The cold wind howled.
Thinking of his dead wife and missing daughter Rose, Ethan couldn't help but clutch his head and howl in pain on the ground.
Overnight he had lost his happy and beautiful family.
His wife was dead, his daughter was gone, and the one who did it was his most familiar friend and senior. This was hard for Ethan to accept; he could only lie on the ground and roar to vent his helplessness.
Clatter
However at this very moment another gust of cold wind blew in through the hole smashed in the back of the hut, knocking over some decorations and making a clattering sound.
The sudden noise interrupted the weeping Ethan. Only then did Ethan realize he was still trapped in the snow.
He wiped away his tears, composed his emotions slightly and slowly stood up to examine the hut. The furnishings were very old and had been abandoned for some time.
The floorboards creaked with decay, and the furniture—tables, chairs, stools—was all in a mess, piled in the center.
Pots and pans were scattered everywhere, and broken mirror glass lay in a pile in the corner. At the same time, a pungent smell of blood permeated the air.
Moving closer to investigate Ethan saw a bloodstain near the hole in the wall. The blood was still liquid and had not yet coagulated.
It looked like fresh blood that had just been spilled.
Accompanying the blood was a trail of dense bloody footprints leading outside, as if guiding Ethan out of the hut.
Seeing this Ethan did not hesitate.
After a brief search of the hut he found a wood-cutting axe and a moldy blanket.
He draped the blanket over himself for warmth, gripped the axe, and prepared to follow the footprints through the hole in the wall to investigate.
This was the real world and the time was around four or five in the morning, close to dawn.
The temperature was more than ten degrees below zero. A normal person staying out on such a cold night without a fire would have died of hypothermia long ago.
Although Ethan was enhanced by the Mold it didn't mean he couldn't feel the cold.
So he obediently wore the blanket as he walked out of the hut. After all, he was currently only wearing jeans, an undershirt, and a green jacket.
Crunch, crunch
Carefully passing through the hole in the wall and stepping onto the soft, cold snow, Ethan soon noticed the surrounding scenery had changed.
It wasn't just pitch black.
Behind the hut was an open snowy forest.
But the trees were all dead, dark and gnarled
dense like thorns. The bloody footprints on the ground continued to extend outward. Ethan didn't hesitate and kept following.
Finally after about three minutes
Ethan saw a shocking scene that was hard to believe.
Where the forest ended and the snow began, there was a house. The house had a small opening, as if there were light. He cast off his outer layer and entered through the opening. At first, it was extremely narrow, barely enough for a person to pass. After walking dozens more steps, it suddenly opened up
The "Peach Blossom Spring" description was perfect for the situation before him.
After passing through the snowy hut, Ethan had only walked dozens of meters before his vision suddenly cleared.
What he saw was a massive cluster of village buildings constructed in a valley basin, standing densely in the Pristine-clad snow.
On the side near the mountain peaks several tall, majestic black castles Rose from the ground, appearing quite ethereal under the cover of the misty wind and snow.
It even made Ethan think he was hallucinating that he had arrived before some medieval fantasy story castle.
After all, he couldn't imagine that such a remote place would have a village cluster and castles standing there, like an isolated paradise.
However what Ethan didn't know was that this was no Avalon, but a demonic hell castle.
One could tell from the pitch-black color that this was no good place, and his beloved daughter Rose was right inside that village.
"Rose"
"Are you in there?"
Looking at the ethereal, dense village cluster and the towering castles, and seeing the bloody footprints disappear on the ground, Ethan, as a father, couldn't help but mutter to himself.
His daughter had been taken, and the only trace left was the bloody footprints in the hut. Ethan didn't know where his daughter Rose had been taken but looking at the village, Ethan seemed to have no choice.
Because he had already lost his beloved wife Mia, he couldn't lose his beloved daughter Rose too.
So no matter what he had to find his daughter Rose, even if the hope was incredibly slim.
