Chapter 8 - Unbreakable Bonds

With Julian's arm around her waist and Rosalie leaning her head against his shoulder, they walked slowly through the golden field. When they reached the grassy cliff near the lighthouse, Julian took off his jacket and spread it on the ground for her to sit. He sat beside her, drawing her close as her head rested comfortably on his shoulder.

" Julian …. "

Rosalie whispered, her chin resting on his shoulder as she looked up at him.

Julian tilted his head, his hand gently stroking her hair from behind.

" Yes, my love? "

He replied, his voice filled with affection.

Rosalie didn't answer right away. She just stared into his eyes, searching his soul with a gaze that made his heart race. As Julian leaned in closer, drawn by her beauty, Rosalie instinctively closed her eyes, her long lashes flattering against her cheeks.

Julian's fingers traced the line of her face before he leaned down to press a soft, lingering kiss on her forehead. But the magnetic pull between them was too strong to stop. Slowly, he moved down, and their lips met in a first kiss that felt like a lifetime of longing finally finding its home.

Rosalie didn't push away, instead, she gripped his arm tightly, anchoring herself to the man who was now her entire world.

When Rosalie snuggled closer into Julian's chest, he responded by drawing her tiny body onto his lap, pulling her into an embrace so tight that not even a breeze could pass between them. They held each other like long lost lovers who had finally their way home after an eternity apart.

Nestled comfortably in his warmth, Rosalie's small fingers began to play with the buttons of Julian's shirt-unfastening and refastening them absentmindedly.

" My love …. "

She whispered, her voice like a soft melody.

" If I had a little plan … a certain arrangement in mind …. Would you listen to me and follow it? "

Julian, who would have plucked the stars from the sky if she had asked, felt his heart swell with unconditional devotion. He leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss into her hair.

" Tell me everything, my little one, "

He murmured, his voice filled with tenderness.

" I'll listen to whatever you say. I'll follow you anywhere …. As long as it doesn't lead us away from each other. "

A lunchtime approached, the decided to head back to the bungalow. At first, they rode the horse together, but as they rode neared the beach area, Julian hopped down. He lead the horse by the reins while Rosalie walked closely by his side, their shoulders brushing with every step.

By the time they reached the shore, the beach was quiet. Their friends were nowhere to be seen-likely back in their room, escaping the midday sun. After returning the horse to the stable, Julian naturally reached out and intertwined his fingers with Rosalie's.

" Everyone must be back at the bungalow by now, "

Julian said, his voice warm as he looked down at their joined hands. He didn't let go; instead, he squeezed her hand gently as they strolled along the soft sand.

" I hope the horse ride wasn't too tiring for you, Rosie. I could walk like this forever, just you and me. "

Rosalie squeezed his hand back, a small knowing smile on her lips.

" I'm not tired at all, Julian. Actually … I think this is exactly what I needed. "

The sound of the waves followed them all the way back, a steady rhythm to the new melody their hearts were beating in unison.

As they approached the bungles, Lily was already standing by the porch, a mischievous grin spreading across her face as she spotted their intertwined hands.

" Well, well …. Look who's finally back, "

She teased, though her eyes held a deeper glint.

Rosalie said a soft goodbye to Julian and walked toward her room. But before she could enter, Lily grabbed her arm and pulled her toward a secluded spot behind the coconut trees.

" Rosie, I need to talk to you. Privately, "

Lily stared, her usual playful tone replaced by a rare seriousness.

" Is something wrong, Lily? "

Rosalie asked.

Lily took a deep breath.

" It's about my brother, Ethan. After the birthday party, he started asking a lot of questions about you. He even told me he found you …. 'interesting.' But Rosie, you have to be careful. My mother spoils him way too much, and he's been getting involved with some very dangerous people-gangs that even Julian doesn't know about. Julian loves his step-brother. But I'm telling you this because I'm worried Stay away from him, okay? "

Rosalie stood frozen for a moment. In her previous life, Lily had never warned her like this. Lily doesn't even know about her brother' connection with gangs. Seeing Lily's genuine concern made Rosalie feel a wave of warmth, yet a chill ran down her spine. 'The timeline is changing, ' she thought. 'People are reacting differently this time.'

" Thankyou for telling me, Lily, "

Rosalie said, squeezing Lily's hand.

" It means more to me than you know. "

She felt a strange mix of joy for having a real friend and a growing dread for the storm Ethan was surely brewing.

" And there's more, Rosie, "

Lily continued, her voice trembling slightly.

" My mother is already persude Julian's father to arrange an engagement between you and Ethan. I even heard her droping hints to your parents during birthday party. But no matter what she plans, I want you to be with Julian. We all do. We want both of you to be safe and happy together. "

Lily sighed, looking toward the bungalow where Julian was.

" Big brother Julian is too kind. Even through they aren't blood-related, he trusts Ethan and treats him with too much mercy. I'm just so afraid that he'll step aside and give you up if Ethan pressures him. But please, know that no matter what happens, I'm on your side. All of us friends are here for you. "

With tears brimming in her eyes, Lily pulled Rosalie into a tight embrace. Rosalie hugged her back, feeling the warmth of true friendship something she had missed so dearly in her previous life.

" Don't worry too much, my dear friend, "

Rosalie whispered into Lily's ears. Her voice clam and filled with an underlying strength.

" I've plans for all of this. And as for Julian.... I am never, ever letting him go again. Not ever. "

Just as the atmosphere grew with heavy secrets, Elara brust out of the room.

" Hey, you two! What are you whispering about? My stomach is hosting a full orchestra right now! "

She complained, grabbing both of them and dragging them inside.

" Hurry up, shower time! And Rosie, we are picking out your absolute prettiest dress today! "

Amidst the laughter and the chaos of getting read, a firm knock sounded on the door.

" Rosie? Is everyone ready? "

Julian's voice drifted in from outside.

" Come out when you're finished. I've already ordered lunch. "

The moment they heard him, the girls exchanged mischievous glances and shouted in unison.

" Okay, darling! We're coming! "

They turned to a blushing Rosalie, teasing her relentlessy.

" Oh, Rosie! We didnit know you are the only one in this room! Why didn't he call our names too? "

Rosalie could only hide her smile, murmuring,

" Maybe he's just used to calling me. "

When they arrived at the dining area, a magnificent spread of seafood and local delcacies awaited them. Julian immediately pulled out a chair for Rosalie, seating her right next to him. Without a word, he skilled fully de-shelling her favourite octopus dish, placing the perfect bites onto her plate.

The trio watched this display of affection with wide eyes. Suddenly, Mia, Lily and Elara all pushed their plates toward Julian at once.

" Oh, Julian! We want octopus too! Can you peel ours? "

They teased, giggling. Rosalie brusting into laughter-a sound as clear and refreshing as a mountains stream, filling air with pure joy. Julian made for them too.
