Alan's question left the audience looking at each other, their eyes once again filled with confusion. *What does your appointment as Prefect have to do with us? You're a war hero; it's perfectly reasonable for you to be appointed. As for why you've locked us in here for this pointless meeting, who knows what you're thinking.*
"Because..." Alan's gaze grew colder as he looked at the crowd. "Because you're all trash!"
The crowd immediately erupted in an uproar, whispering and discussing among themselves. They had expected Alan to deliver a profound speech, but he started by attacking everyone. His words even stunned Louis and the other Prefects; they had no idea what he was trying to achieve.
"Silence!" A cold tone, amplified by the Fear Curse, came from Alan's mouth. At his deterrence, everyone present was shocked into silence.
"Am I wrong to say you're trash? Look closely at yourselves—what about you is worthy of Slytherin? You're all like walking corpses."
"Heh, if it weren't for you, who never disappoint when it comes to being disappointing, why would Professor Snape make me waste my precious time on you?" Alan sneered, his mockery merciless.
"How can you say that? How are we not worthy of Slytherin?" a more outspoken pure-blood wizard angrily retorted.
"Oh? You're Fourth Year Joy Farley, aren't you?" Alan raised the hand holding the clipboard and glanced at it. "It seems you're unconvinced? Then tell me, what have you contributed to Slytherin, and what have you achieved for yourself?"
Alan shifted his gaze to Joy and continued without pause, "Just last year, you received three detentions for fighting with Gryffindor, causing the house to lose 55 points, and you failed four subjects in your final exams. At your current pace, I even doubt if you'll pass a single O.W.L. exam next year. To be honest, I should apologize to you; you're not trash—you're worse than trash!"
Joy Farley, called out by Alan, flushed with anger but couldn't find any excuse or reason to refute him.
"Joy truly isn't worthy of Slytherin. These pure-blood wizards even tried to suppress other half-blood wizards the year before last; they're already trash. But you should only target those pure-bloods. Why are you talking about us? We haven't lost any points for the house." A wizard beside him coldly glanced at Joy, then somewhat impolitely retorted to Alan.
"Fifth Year Jim Ferry." Alan again glanced at the clipboard and smiled at Jim. "I can see you're not fond of these pure-blood wizards."
"What good are they other than causing trouble day after day? Don't forget how they treated us the year before last. Alan, you're a Muggle-born wizard; don't you hate them? I say now is the time to settle scores." Jim Ferry glared fiercely at Joy again, still feeling unsatisfied.
As soon as Jim spoke, the faces of the other pure-blood wizards around him changed dramatically. Jim had indeed been bullied by them a few years ago. Were they really going to be targeted now? Compared to them, Alan seemed to have better relations with the half-blood wizards. Thinking of this, many pure-blood wizards' legs began to tremble. They knew Alan's methods, and the thought made them feel even more despair.
"Settle scores with them? Wouldn't that just turn into another 'Purity Committee'?" Alan sneered, shaking his head. "And even though you haven't lost points for the house, it still doesn't change the fact that you're trash."
"What do you mean?" Jim felt something was off and looked at Alan with some annoyance.
"Jim Ferry, last year you didn't lose any points for violating school rules, and your academic performance was quite good, with your Potions grades being among the best." Alan nodded, looking at the data on the clipboard, and Jim proudly lifted his head.
"But..." Alan looked up, his gaze sweeping coldly over the other person. "Although you haven't lost points for the house, you haven't thought about earning any either. The only time you gained points was when Professor Snape favored you. If it were just that, you'd merely lack house pride. But besides not valuing honor, you even secretly plotted against fellow house students!"
"At the Easter feast, you secretly put castor oil laxative in Sixth Year pure-blood wizard Leo Malcolm's drink because he broke a music box during a Third Year dorm inspection. Another time, several Slytherin students were pranked by Gryffindor students. Just as they were about to retaliate, you secretly reported them to Filch, which led to two Slytherins being caught. The reason was that one of the pure-bloods, to protect another half-blood from being hit by a dung bomb thrown by Gryffindor, pulled the other into a dead end in the corridor—only to be caught red-handed by Filch. The pure-blood who protected his housemate was the very Joy Hickman whom you disdain."
"How... how did you know?" Hearing Alan reveal his secrets so openly, Jim Ferry's voice trembled with surprise, and his face instantly turned pale.
"What? It was you? No wonder I had diarrhea for so long after Easter; I thought there was something wrong with the school food."
"I knew Filch's timing was too coincidental. So that's how we got caught. Are you crazy? Why would you target your own people?"
Leo and Joy, upon hearing that it was someone from their own house who had harmed them, immediately turned red with anger, glaring furiously at Jim. Jim, in turn, silently lowered his head, no longer as confident as before.
"Do you want me to continue?" Alan's gaze swept coldly over Jim and around the room. "If I keep going, it will only make you seem like more of a disappointment. Arrogant, harsh, foolish, indifferent, lazy, vain, mutually hateful, selfish, and utterly lacking in honor—this is what I see in you. Perhaps you think that by relying on these traits, you can prove yourselves worthy of Slytherin. Hmph!"
Alan spared no effort in his cold sarcasm. This time, under his mockery, the little snakes present silently lowered their heads, for they knew Alan was speaking the truth. Although his words were harsh and excessive, they were powerless to refute him.
