"Castellano is moving his heavy hitters to the southern border," Luca said, pointing a pen at the map spread across the study desk.
The war room was full of tension. Four of Nico's top capos stood around the mahogany wood. It had been less than twelve hours since the warehouse raid, and the syndicate was already breaking apart.
And for the first time, Mara stood at the table with them.
She had taken time to wash away the dust and changed into a dark shirt, looking like she ZRegent she was. None of the capos questioned her presence. Word had already spread through the ranks: the Regent hadn't hidden in the armored car. She had stepped out, and Castellano's top capo had a shattered femur to prove it.
"If he pushes through the south, we can bottleneck him at the bridge," one of the capos argued, tracing a line on the map.
"He won't push through the south," Mara said.
The room went entirely quiet. The capo looked up, surprised, but he didn't interrupt her.
