Adrian Gray was a little boy, 10 years of age. He lived with his mom, Lydia and dad, Arthur in the Forsaken Realm. They lived peacefully. His parents always told him that his powers were special and he must always use them to protect others.
From when he was a baby, Adrian was taught by Arthur how to harness and control his powers. Adrian's type of magic wasn't normal. He had a demonic aura with an affinity for shadow magic.
Shadow magic is a magic type exclusive to only demons. Anyone that had Demon Magic was treated like a monster. That's why Lydia and Arthur raised him in the Forsaken Realm, where noone else resided.
In addition to his unique magic type, his crest was shaped in an odd manner. In this world, everyone is born with a unique mark on their body. The shape of the symbol and body part varies from person to person.
A crest is used to check one's magical talent.
It glows different colours depending on the magic type.
For example, the crest someone with flame magic glows red when the person unleashed their power.
The problem with Adrian's crest was that it grew and expanded as he grew. Thus, if he ever had to go to the kingdom of Eldoria, he would need to cover his left arm at all times.
Lydia and Arthur trained him as much as that could and always protected him but they didn't know of the crisis coming their way.
"Adrian, come help me fetch water from the river" Lydia said.
"Coming!" Adrian responded.
Adrian quickly grabbed a bucket and ran to the river at the back of the house. He bailed some water and rushed to his mother.
He wasn't hasty just because he loved helping his mother but because she was making his favourite dish for breakfast, Sunberry Ember Rolls.
He was very excited. Once breakfast was set, he ate and went outside to prepare for his daily training with Arthur. Arthur came out few minutes later and they were about to begin their training.
When....
"BOOM"
There was suddenly a loud crashing noise in the distance. The air became tense. Both his parents wore a grim expression on their faces.
"Arthur, do you think.....it's them?" Lydia asked with a shaky voice.
"This aura, there's no mistaking it. It's the demons " Arthur responded.
Adrian was still puzzled about what was going on. He had never seen his parents so worried before. He sensed the power approaching and realised that whatever was coming must be dangerous.
"Mother, is someone bad coming this way? Don't worry. I'll protect you." he said with a voice filled with pride.
Lydia smiled at his words.
" Don't worry my baby. It's just some old friends coming for a visit. We'll need to give them some food and we're out of meat so...."
"Got it Mother. I'll go and hunt in the forest right away and come back. "
"Thank you my baby. Try to be careful and you can take your time."
And with that, Adrian left for the forest nearby.
