Lyan
I woke up to a shrill sound reverberating all around me.
' What the fuck?'
The sound continued and showed no signs of stopping.
Orus suddenly burst into my room, sending the door flying, hinges destroyed.
" Dude, why?!!!" But instead of answering like a normal person he grabbed me by the legs and threw me over his shoulder like a potato sack.
" Let me go!!!" I thrashed around, but his hold was steady.
" Shhhh!" He growled near my ear, placing a hand over my mouth.
I was very confused, but I was sure he wouldn't hurt me, so I decided to trust this wasn't a prank, he seemed too serious for that, and shut up and stopped thrashing.
He gently put me down in Mark's room, where Jack was already seated on the bed.
" What's going on?"
" Demon attack. They breached the school and the alarm went off" Orus answered.
" So what now?"
" Shhhh!!" Jack hushed me, signaling for me to lower my voice.
" What now?" I whispered.
" Now we stay silent and wait for the officials to arrive and tell us it has been cleared"
" Ok" Orus's explanation made sense, but what I couldn't comprehend was how the demons had gotten in. There were very strong protections in here, but oh well.
I joined Jack on Mark's bed, sprawling all over it and forcing Orus to sit on the floo....
" Mark!" I whispered. I turned to look at Jack.
" Where's Mark?"
" He'll be fine" He shrugged.
" He's not an undead. He's an elemental. He needs help"
" Don't worry to much. He'll be fine"
" You too, Orus?"
" Don't worry and be quiet"
" But what if he's badly hurt" I got up." I have to check"
Just as I said that the bedroom door opened, staying on it's hinges this time, and a bloody Mark came in.
" See? He's fine" Jack said pointing at him.
" Were you worried about me, my little demon?" The bastard looked smug.
" Nop" I moved my head.
" Really?" Oscar got all over my personal space and my heart started racing. I could see his full lips and his shiny black eyes. The way he looked at me, as if he wanted to eat me whole, sent butterflies all over my lower stomach.
" You two, quit it" Orus said from his spot on the floor.
Oscar got away from me and took a seat at the chair. I got back to the bed.
" What's outside?" I asked Oscar. If he had gone outside he would surely know about the situation.
" Dunno" He shrugged.
" What do you mean you don't know?. You were there"
" I was a little bit busy, you see. All I heard were screams, but they began before the attack, so there really was not much difference. Besides that I didn't see anything weird"
It was the middle of the night and the exhaustion was pulling at me and their nonsense wasn't helping, but I decided to play along.
" Who was screaming before the attack?"
" That's a secret" Oscar said, placing his finger over his lips.
" He was making a mess" Jack answered on his instead.
"How?"
" Wanna know?" He leaned in very close and for the second time in a few minutes my heart beat faster again.
" No fair!" Oscar pouted. " That's my secret to tell"
" There's no secret" Orus retorted. " Everyone knows"
" I don't know. Tell me" I looked at Orus with pleading eyes.
" He was..."
Boom!!!
A very loud sound came from the main door. We looked at each other and we all hid under the bed with great difficulty. I was sandwiched between two of them and could hardly breathe, but if the circumstances had been any different I would've loved it.
We all stayed silent as the steps started coming this way. My heart thumped in my chest and I could also hear the guy's heartbeats. Unless for Oscar, dude was as calm as fuck, everyone else's heartbeat was going very fast. Sweat started forming in my hands.
The steps finally stopped at our door. A few seconds later I could see some shoes. Their owner was walking around all over the room and made a sniffing sound.
" Where are you?" A deep voice coming from the intruder boomed all over the room. I gasped. I knew that voice. I had heard it before not that long ago, but where?
Luckily the alarm was still sounding so he didn't hear. After sniffing around some more I stopped seeing the shoes and hearing the footsteps.
My heartbeat decreased and I was beginning to think we were safe when from a side of the bed a red face with star-like pupils and horns appeared. The shock caused me to gasp, but fortunately Jack placed his hand on my mouth in time to stop him from hearing.
The demon looked around and smelled for a while, but then he went away and I heard his steps go away from us.
" How did he not see us?"
" Spell" Jack answered.
" Thanks"
" No problem. It was an easy spell. There was no way I could've failed that"
He seemed sure, but I could see the slight tremble in his body and his fast heartbeat. He was scared, everyone was, if he had failed we would've died. Thank God he was good at spells.
Once I calmed down a little I pushed the guys out of the way and once outside I grabbed my knees with my hands, hiperventilating.
Jack placed his hand on my shoulder.
" Don't worry. It's fine now" He whispered.
I nodded, still trembling slightly.
Oscar was the only one unfazed. He was as calm as always as he went out and came back with shampoo.
" What are you going to do with that?" I looked at Oscar, but he didn't answer and just dumped half the thing into me and Jack. Then he dumped the rest into Orus and himself.
" Whyyy!!??" I whispered loudly.
" Smell" He didn't say anything else and sat on the floor near us after closing back the door. I must've looked at him like I felt, like he was crazy, cause Orus answered for him.
" Demon's sense of smell are very good. The shampoo can be used to mask our natural odor. It's a good idea"
" Now what?" I asked no one in particular.
" Now we wait. It's highly unlikely that they'll come back after this" Jack said nonchalantly, but his hands still trembled slightly, as well as Orus's.
" Wanna have some fun while we wait?" Oscar winked at me.
" We almost died right now. You think this is a good time?"
" Why not?" He looked genually confused.
" Psycho"
He just laughed.
A few hours passed by and no other demons came in, but the alarm didn't stop sounding all the time and Oscar started getting fidgety too.
" They should've fixed it by now" He kept murmuring, which didn't help.
" Evacuate right now. Code red" The dean's voice boomed all over the room along with the alarm."Evacuate right now. Code red. Evacuate right now. Code red" The dean's voice repeated on loop.
" What's a code red?" I asked the guys, but they didn't hear me. Their faces had lost all their color, even Oscar was pale and that was how I knew it was bad.
" What's going on?"
" We need to move. Now" Oscar grabbed me and pushed me to the door. But then he stopped and looked at us.
" From now on make no sound. You'll obey me and listen to me, and under no circumstance do you speak. And we run. Understood?"
The guys nooded, but I needed to know what this was about. They were beginning to scare me.
" What's going on?"
" Code red means that they'll cast a spell all over the school to kill the demons" Jack answered quietly.
" But that's good" I frowned, not understanding the problem.
" That spell kills everything living" Oscar said. Oh my God. I went pale, they were going to kill us.
" Understood?" Oscar repeated and this time I nodded along.
We all went out of our dorm and the faint screams that I could hear from the room turned into booming sounds, that joined with the alarm and the dean's voice made my hair stand on end.
Oscar took the lead and guided us down some stairs. Along the stairs there were blood stains all over the walls, and even a finger on a step.
My heart began pounding, my mouth dried and fear started forming in my stomach.
We went up and down, avoiding demons whenever Orus heard any. After almost ten minutes of panic and tension we finally reached the nearest exist.
It was a small door on a wall that led to the infirmary, which in turned led to the forest. Oscar slowly went up to the door and opened it, only to find the same demon from before looking straight at us.
Fuuuck.
