The earlier parley had been a ruse to complete the encirclement, ensuring no escape.
The iron dragon and red dragon closed in on Garos.
The Ignis Brothers soared in formation high above.
The combined dragon might, amplified by the monsters' deafening roars that drowned out the torrential rain, made even the most steadfast knights pale and their hearts pound like war drums.
The martial monk's resolute expression darkened.
"Edmund, break through to the east!" he barked.
The nearest human garrison lay to the east. Alerting them and securing reinforcements was their only hope.
Edmund, recognizing the urgency, forced himself to remain calm.
The frost giant, fifth-tier alchemical golems, and knights regrouped, forming a wedge formation around Edmund as they charged eastward.
Through the torrential rain, the sky was cleaved into jagged fragments by the three dragon shadows.
Garos dove down from the center, his speed unmatched, his body a streak of molten metal as he led the iron dragon and red dragon in their charge against the human battle lines.
The hybrid dragon's wings tore through the rain, his crimson scales leaving a searing trail in the air.
Two alchemy golems locked onto him, their joints hissing with superheated steam from their overloaded engines.
Their core engines flickered wildly, pushing their power output to critical levels.
One of the golems suddenly opened its chest armor, revealing a spinning saw-toothed wheel. It leaped high into the air, hurtling directly toward the diving Garos.
The red-iron dragon's claws clashed against the golem's blade wheel, sending blinding sparks flying.
The screech of grinding metal forced every living creature within a hundred meters to clutch their ears in agony, but Garos's assault never faltered. His left claw clamped down on the golem's wheel while his right claw pierced its chest armor, hurling the golem into a group of knights. Steel and flesh exploded into a bloody, metallic mist in the rain.
As Garos descended further, more attacks rained down upon him.
The fearless one raised his greatsword, aiming a strike at Garos's neck.
A knight-class alchemy golem raised its pitch-black heavy spear, its energy veins glowing like blood vessels as it thrust toward Garos's heart. The remaining two golems unleashed their own attacks, joining the fray.
Meanwhile...
The frost giant conjured an ice crystal warhammer, radiating a bone-chilling aura. Seizing the opportunity while Garos was entangled with the alchemy golem, it swung the hammer at his back.
The blow, capable of shattering steel, shattered into icy shards upon contact with Garos's dragon scale armor, the impact sending a shockwave through the air.
Boom! An explosive burst of fire filled the battlefield.
Garos merely shuddered slightly. His tail lashed out like a steel whip, sending the giant staggering backward. The giant's chest split open, revealing alloy-like ribs crisscrossed with cracks, yet it roared and lunged forward again, its undead-enhanced body impervious to pain.
Martial Monk Bane stood guard before Edmund, his stance unwavering. Edmund's heart pounded like a war drum, his face pale, his mind blank with terror. He tried to conjure a spell, but his spirit was too scattered to focus, unable to even form the spell model.
Faced with death, the greenhouse flower revealed its true nature: a will as fragile as paper.
A genius?
Just a fool who knew neither the height of the heavens nor the depth of the earth, destined for an early grave.
Meanwhile, the surrounding knights clashed with the encroaching monsters.
Having suffered heavy losses in Garos's earlier rampage, the remaining knights were no match for the monsters, their movements sluggish as if mired in quicksand.
Escape was now impossible.
At the same time...
The twelve-meter-long iron dragon arrived.
It charged into the battle from the side, its muscles taut and its steel-like body spinning. Its rotating dragon wing sliced into the waist of an alchemical golem, sending both crashing to the ground in a tumbling heap.
Amidst the ear-splitting screech of tearing metal, hydraulic fluid gushed from the golem like blood.
Yet the war machine clamped its arms around the iron dragon, its chest armor cracking open to reveal a dark, gaping cannon barrel. The cannon began charging, aiming directly at Solgorn.
Just then, a rune materialized in mid-air and struck the alchemical golem.
Its movements froze, its charging halted, and its grip on the iron dragon loosened.
Samantha's alchemy spell had disrupted the golem's functions.
Lava-like flaming dragon breath erupted from Samantha's mouth, scorching the rain as it slammed into the golem's chest. The armor rapidly glowed crimson, like molten iron, and the force of the impact drove the golem backward step by step.
The iron dragon roared.
Harden Body!
A deep, obsidian light instantly enveloped its entire body, making it appear even more like a creature forged purely from steel—a ferocious beast of metal, far more menacing than the surrounding alchemical golems.
Using its hardened body as a weapon, the iron dragon charged forward.
The moment Samantha ceased her dragon breath, he slammed into the alchemy golem.
Countless components scattered like rain.
The armor, softened by the dragon breath, tore open instantly, and countless parts rained down as the upper half of the alchemy golem was crushed.
"Crawling insects! Feel fear and despair!"
In a brief span, the iron dragon and red dragon had torn apart the humans' prized alchemical construct. Overwhelmed with excitement, they roared in unison.
Such intense combat was rare in their long lives.
Having destroyed one alchemy golem, Solgorn and Samantha didn't linger in victory. They shifted their gaze to assist Garos, who was being swarmed on the front lines, hoping to impress him.
But when their eyes landed on Garos's location, they froze.
Around Garos, two golems had been reduced to scattered parts, their wreckage littering the ground. The fearless one's broken sword lay embedded in the earth, its luster gone, leaving only the battered frost giant and two crippled alchemy golems still struggling to stand before him.
Garos had paid a price.
During the battle, all his explosive scales had been blasted away, revealing the crimson-black scales beneath.
Boom!
Garos's flame claw pierced the golem's chest, tearing it in half with a reverse rip. In the blink of an eye, he had destroyed another golem.
Seizing the fleeting opportunity, the frost giant wrapped its arms around Garos's right hind leg and heaved with all its might.
The red-iron dragon momentarily lost its balance, and the final golem ambushed him from behind. Its right arm transformed into a drill, which it thrust viciously toward Garos's spine.
At the critical moment, Garos's dragon wing snapped back like a razor-sharp blade, slicing away half of the golem's body.
Yet the drill still grazed his dragon scale, leaving a bloody gash.
The red-iron dragon's pupils narrowed to thin slits, his gaze turning indifferent and icy. He whipped his head around.
Garos wasn't enraged by the trivial wound, but by the sight of the martial monk carrying the spellcaster by the scruff of his neck, like a chick, as he leaped and dodged through the battlefield.
Not just the knight.
Even the golems and giants were being abandoned.
The monk's slender frame contained strength rivaling that of a juvenile dragon, and his agility was beyond imagination.
Channeling qi into his legs, the martial monk strode across the ground with lightning speed, even surpassing the full-speed flight of a normal juvenile dragon.
The monsters swarmed the martial monk.
Some lost sight of him before they even got close.
Others, unable to discern his movements, were sent flying by his powerful qi-infused fists and feet.
The Gluttonous Demon Karu lumbered after the martial monk, but his speed couldn't match the monk's. Frustrated, Karu could only glare helplessly before venting his rage on the knights.
The monster knights of the Crimson Iron Cavalry tried to pursue and obstruct him, but they were completely outmatched.
Solgorn and Samantha spotted the fleeing martial monk and soared into the air in pursuit. Yet they couldn't close the distance; instead, the gap widened steadily.
"These monsters can't keep up with me."
"The knights and golems have been completely destroyed here—a devastating loss. But at least I can get young master Edmund back alive."
Bane had watched Edmund grow up since childhood, treating him like his own son. He channeled a portion of his qi into Edmund's body, protecting the boy's fragile frame from injury during their high-speed escape.
