"Ser," Jeremy said in an almost whisper. Hearing his disheartened tone, Olivier rubbed the top of his head. Jeremy let out a small, satisfied sound and a tiny, barely noticeable smile.
"What is it you want to do, Jeremy? I mean, are you still wanting to be a knight despite everything, or do you want to give it up after the war?" Jeremy small smile vanished as he looked to the ground.
"I want to stay with you, Ser."
"Jeremy." Oliver sighed. "Eventually, you need to go out into the world alone. Now I am not saying I'm going to kick you away anytime soon, but when you're older, you'll understand. Don't worry, however. When we have to part eventually, it doesn't mean we will never see each other again." Oliver heard the shaky breath from the small boy as he began to fiddle with his fingers.
"But why? Why must we separate in the future?"
