Chapter 46 - The Choice

🌑 Episode 46

The Choice

White light swallowed everything.

Sound disappeared.

Time itself felt frozen.

Inside the blinding glow—

Ariba stood alone.

Or… not alone.

The other Ariba stood across from her.

No machines.

No lab.

No noise.

Just an empty white space.

Like a world inside their minds.

Ariba looked around slowly.

"Where are we…?"

The other version answered calmly,

"Inside the connection."

Ariba clenched her fists.

"You pulled me here."

The girl shook her head.

"No."

"We pulled each other."

Silence.

Ariba stared at her.

"You said we weren't meant to exist alone."

The other Ariba nodded.

"That's how we were designed."

Ariba's voice hardened.

"I'm not a design."

The girl stepped closer.

"But you are the result."

A pause.

"You feel it, don't you?"

Ariba didn't answer.

But she did feel it.

The connection.

The shared memories.

The same fear.

The same pain.

The same strength.

The other Ariba raised her hand.

"You don't have to fight me."

Ariba took a step back.

"I'm not joining you."

The girl's eyes softened.

"I'm not asking you to."

Ariba frowned.

"Then what do you want?"

A long silence.

Then the answer came—

"To become complete."

The words echoed strangely.

Ariba's heart pounded.

"What does that even mean?"

The girl looked directly into her eyes.

"It means we were split."

Flash—

Images burst into Ariba's mind.

A lab.

Two chambers.

Scientists arguing.

Her father shouting—

"You can't divide her like this!"

Another voice—

"It's the only way to stabilize the system!"

Ariba gasped.

"They… separated us…"

The girl nodded slowly.

"You were the emotional core."

"And I was the control."

Ariba shook her head.

"No… no…"

But it made sense.

Why she felt everything so deeply.

Why the other version felt so calm.

So cold.

"You think merging is the answer?" Ariba asked.

The girl replied quietly,

"It's the only way to survive what's coming."

Ariba's eyes narrowed.

"What's coming?"

For the first time—

The other Ariba hesitated.

Then she said one sentence that changed everything—

"He's not the final one."

Silence.

Ariba whispered,

"The Architect…"

The girl shook her head.

"He's just part of something bigger."

The white space trembled slightly.

Back in the real world—

⚠️ CORE COLLAPSE IMMINENT

But inside the connection—

Time was running out.

Ariba took a deep breath.

"If we merge…"

"…what happens to me?"

The girl answered honestly.

"We both change."

A pause.

"But we both survive."

Ariba looked down.

Then back at her.

"And if I refuse?"

The answer came cold.

"Then the system tears us apart."

The white space began cracking.

Lines of light splitting everything.

Ariba's mind raced.

Two choices.

Neither safe.

Neither simple.

Then she remembered Ryan.

His voice.

His words—

You don't need him to know who you are.

Ariba lifted her head.

"I already chose who I am."

The girl looked at her carefully.

"And?"

Ariba's eyes became steady.

"I'm not just what they made me."

Silence.

Then—

She stepped forward.

"But I'm also not running from it anymore."

The other Ariba watched her closely.

Then slowly…

She smiled.

For the first time—

Not cold.

Not distant.

Real.

"Then choose," she said.

The white space shattered.

The connection began breaking apart.

Ariba reached out—

Not to merge fully—

But to take control.

⚡ Light exploded again—

Back in the lab—

Ryan shouted,

"ARIBA!"

The energy field collapsed.

The light vanished.

Everything dropped silent.

Ariba stood in the center.

Breathing heavily.

The other Ariba…

was gone.

Victor looked around.

"What just happened?"

Lena checked the system.

"The second signal…"

"…it's gone."

Ryan rushed to Ariba.

"Are you okay?"

Ariba looked at her hands.

Then at the system.

Then at the chamber.

Her voice was quiet.

"…She's not gone."

Everyone froze.

"What do you mean?" Ryan asked.

Ariba slowly looked up.

Her eyes held something new.

"She's part of me now."

Victor frowned.

"You merged?"

Ariba shook her head slightly.

"Not fully."

A pause.

"But enough."

Suddenly—

⚠️ SYSTEM OVERRIDE COMPLETE

Every screen in the lab turned white.

Then black.

Then—

Shut down.

Lena gasped.

"You did it…"

Victor smirked.

"She took control."

Ryan looked at Ariba.

"Is it over?"

Ariba didn't answer immediately.

Because deep inside—

She could still feel it.

The other presence.

The other voice.

Quiet.

Waiting.

And far away—

In a hidden control room—

The Architect watched the screens go dark.

His smile faded slightly.

"…So you chose your own path."

A pause.

Then he whispered—

"Good."

"Because now…"

"…you're ready for the next stage."

To Be Continued…
