In the end, Warren Grant wasn't thrown out after all.
It wasn't that Ethan Grant had a sudden pang of conscience and decided to be a filial son. Rather, it was because the Old Master had spoken.
"It's bad luck to see blood at a recovery banquet. Let him stay."
Just as Warren was about to be tossed out, the Old Master recalled the idiotic incident where this prodigal son had bashed his head against a pillar in the main hall, drawing blood. He decided to spare him some dignity.
'I can deal with my son anytime,' he thought, 'but a recovery banquet is no place for bloodshed.'
The Old Master was partly being superstitious, and partly curious to see how his brother, who had just returned from overseas, would handle a toast from his "nephew."
'Knowing Warren Grant,' the Old Master mused, 'accepting his toast meant you had to do him a favor. No exceptions.'
Sure enough, as soon as everyone was seated, Warren Grant wasted no time.
