Shirley Thorne was so excited she didn't sleep a wink. The dark circles under her eyes the next morning were so bad they nearly scared Florence Langley into calling a doctor.
"Stop!"
She quickly stopped her terrified bodyguard, declaring righteously, "If we can avoid calling a doctor, let's avoid it."
She didn't want to hear Winston Aldridge ask about the stability of her pregnancy again. Questions like that were taking years off her life.
"Ma'am, you're overthinking it!"
Florence Langley looked disapproving. "Are you saying you won't see a doctor for anything during this time, even if you get a headache or a fever?"
Shirley Thorne shrugged. "Can't be helped!"
Besides, the expert the big-shot CEO mentioned was already on his way to the island. It was best to avoid any actions that could easily start rumors.
'And what would I tell the doctor, anyway? That I came up with a hundred get-rich-quick schemes last night and was too excited to sleep?'
