Jasper Sherwood finally looked up, his voice thick with congestion. "No need."
He didn't wait for Nina and walked off ahead.
Nina Donovan stared blankly at his back as he walked away.
'Why does he seem so unhappy?' She tried to rationalize it, figuring he was just on his man-period. Everyone has a few off days a month.
After Nina and Jasper left, Silas Morgan, who was still in the hospital room, suddenly asked, "President Donovan, who was that young man just now? He seemed quite close to your daughter."
Mr. Donovan smiled. "He's my daughter's classmate. A promising young man. His family's situation is a little difficult, but he seems very grounded and capable. A good kid."
Miles Morgan quickly raised his hand. "I know that big brother! He and Nina helped save me."
Silas Morgan chuckled lightly. "Then how come I only heard you asking for Nina?"
Miles Morgan pouted. "He just showed up at the end to lead me and Nina out. Nina was the one who really saved me. I like her."
