Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Underestimating the Enemy, an Utter Rout

And as the two armies closed in,

The Wood Elf army was perfectly disciplined, maintaining a flawless formation under Feiyana's command.

In contrast, Li Boyang's Green-skinned Lizardman force appeared scattered and disorganized.

Although they appeared more numerous, in reality, both sides had dispatched the same number of Clan members.

This only served to highlight that Li Boyang's Green-skinned Lizardman Clan lacked any effective organization or coordination.

If that alone was not proof enough,

then what happened next was.

The projection clearly displayed the two armies gradually approaching each other.

The Wood Elves adopted an "arc-shaped advance" tactic.

The front rank of Wood Elves wielded Wooden Shields to form a defensive line, with the Elf Archers on standby in the middle and the Natural Elf Casters in the rear, preparing to cast.

Their advance was methodical.

On Li Boyang's side, however, the formation during the advance was based entirely on physical strength.

The stronger Green-skinned Lizardmen were at the front, while the weaker ones were at the back.

As the distance closed,

On the Divine Battlefield, when the distance between the two sides had shrunk to about five hundred meters,

The Wood Elf Archers suddenly halted.

The sixty-odd Wood Elf Archers shifted from a single horizontal line into three.

The first row drew their bows and nocked their Arrows in unison.

The second row began preparations.

At Feiyana's command, dozens of Arrows streaked through the air, raining down upon the still-charging Green-skinned Lizardman ranks.

Because the Green-skinned Lizardmen's formation was loose, the ones at the very front—eager to kill as quickly as possible—often carried only stone Javelins.

Instead of Wooden Shields, they carried more Wooden Spears of various lengths on their backs.

The Green-skinned Lizardmen at the front lacked effective defensive gear, and this volley of arrows inflicted significant casualties!

As the first volley of arrows landed,

a second volley from the Wood Elf Archer ranks was already in the air.

The third row of Wood Elf Archers was already prepared to draw and fire.

This rain of arrows continued for six volleys.

In total, over three hundred Wooden Arrows were fired, inflicting more than eighty casualties on the Green-skinned Lizardmen.

Nearly a quarter of the Green-skinned Lizardmen were killed outright by these six volleys.

Another twenty to thirty Green-skinned Lizardmen, though not killed, were grievously wounded.

At this moment, watching the scene unfold from high above, Li Boyang was in agony.

As a mere First Transformation Demigod, he was completely unable to use any Divine Arts for direct attacks or large-area defense.

Thus, he could only watch helplessly as his Clan died before his very eyes.

"AH! AH! AH!"

"Damn you, Zhang Yi! Damn those Wood Elves! How dare they treat my Clan this way!"

The impact of this scene was too much for Li Boyang to bear.

His eyes were bloodshot and his face was twisted in a savage expression; Li Boyang had completely lost his usual composure.

'Just wait! Just a little longer!'

'My revenge is coming soon.'

'Soon, soon! The two forces are about to close in!'

'The time for revenge is at hand!'

Li Boyang still had a support-type Divine Art he had yet to unleash.

It wasn't that he didn't want to; the conditions simply hadn't been right.

Otherwise, how could he have just watched so many of his Clan die!

The Divine Art Li Boyang held was the Blood Boiling Technique.

It briefly boosted a target's physical attributes at the cost of making their blood boil.

During this process, the blood of the Green-skinned Lizardmen—a cold-blooded Clan with a normal body temperature of only ten-something degrees—would be heated to over seventy degrees.

In reality, however, a Green-skinned Lizardman would die once its body temperature reached fifty-something degrees!

Therefore, the Casting process could not be sustained for long, and Li Boyang needed to choose the perfect moment to stop it.

Before, the Wood Elf and Green-skinned Lizardman armies were too far apart.

Even if he had cast this Divine Art,

the Green-skinned Lizardmen would not have been able to reach the Wood Elves.

But now, after six volleys of arrows,

the armies of the two Clans were a mere three hundred meters apart.

It would only take the Green-skinned Lizardmen a dozen or so seconds to sprint that distance.

It was at this moment that Li Boyang's eyes locked onto the Divine Battlefield.

Three hundred meters... two hundred meters... one hundred meters!

As the Lizardmen roared and accelerated their charge, attempting to close the distance for melee combat,

Li Boyang began to use his Divine Art!

"Blood Boiling Technique!"

Meanwhile, as the Green-skinned Lizardmen charged to within 200 meters of the Wood Elves,

Legion Commander Feiyana, standing at the very front, commanded loudly and without panic, "All Elf Mages, begin Casting your Magic!"

After Feiyana gave the order, the Natural Elves in the rearmost rank immediately began Casting.

The ground near the Wood Elves in the front rank, who were holding Wooden Shields, began to sprout vines.

These vines twisted together, forming barriers of various heights on the flat ground.

This forced the Green-skinned Lizardmen, who had been charging at full speed, to slow down as they neared.

Otherwise, they would be tripped by the vines.

But that was not all.

Almost every Elf Mage held a mined Magic Crystal.

Supported by the Magic Power of the Magic Crystals,

a second Magic, "Tree Bark Armor," was also cast, quickly covering the Wood Elves in the front rank.

At the same time,

Elf High Priest Shamiel and Zhang Yi also began to cast Divine Arts.

"Natural Shelter!"

"Blessing of Nature!"

A green aura enveloped every Wood Elf.

The charging Green-skinned Lizardmen at the front also began to emit a bloody glow.

"Li Boyang seems to have underestimated Zhang Yi's preparations. Zhang Yi has more Magic prepared than he does,"

commented their homeroom teacher, Guo Aiqing.

"The Wood Elves were originally at a disadvantage on open terrain, but they created a temporary advantage by changing the terrain, and they even forced the swift Green-skinned Lizardmen to slow down before reaching the botanical barrier."

The students in the audience gasped in amazement:

"That's incredible!"

"Zhang Yi's Wood Elf Clan can execute tactics with such precision!"

"Look at those Lizardmen! They're completely in disarray!"

"I never thought Wood Elves could be this strong!"

On the battlefield, the Green-skinned Lizardmen were beginning to show their disadvantage.

Green-skinned Lizardmen belong to the Half-beastman race. Although their size and Power were greater than the average Wood Elf's,

and they were empowered by the Blood Boiling Technique,

the opposing Wood Elves were not only organized and tactically flexible, but they were also enhanced with even more Magic and Divine Arts than the Green-skinned Lizardmen!

The gap in their Four-dimensional Attributes was drastically narrowed, if not completely eliminated.

They held no advantage in numbers, nor in time.

Faced with this situation, Li Boyang was at a complete loss.

In the Divine Realm, Li Boyang's brow furrowed. He began to realize he might have made a strategic error.

He had originally thought the Green-skinned Lizardmen's brute force would be enough to crush the Wood Elves, and that even with some coordination issues, his "Blood Boiling Technique" would make up for it.

But he never expected the Wood Elves to be even better prepared with their Magic!

At this point, Li Boyang had no other choice. He had to play his trump card and fight with everything he had.

'I'll take down as many Wood Elves as I can.'

In Li Boyang's mind, mutual destruction was now the best possible outcome!

"Model, order the troops to regroup and push forward! Don't scatter!"

"Once the troops regroup, have them consume the Spring of Life immediately, then charge as one!"

Li Boyang hastily adjusted his strategy, sending down an Oracle.

But it was too late. The Wood Elves already had a firm grip on the battlefield's initiative.

As the Green-skinned Lizardmen attempted to regroup and push forward, the Wood Elf Archers immediately adjusted their aim and began firing at will.

Meanwhile, the Natural Elf Casters unleashed small-area Vine Entanglement spells, pinning the Lizardmen who were trying to regroup.

This time, even though Li Boyang had played his final trump card,

he had utterly lost the initiative on the Divine Battlefield under the Wood Elves' calculated assault.

An hour later, the outcome of the battle was clear.
