Their eyes met. As if his presence gave her a sense of security, her fear vanished in an instant, replaced by an even greater sense of grievance.
The professor was so startled by the sudden appearance of a group of teachers and the principal that he didn't dare say a word. He had been staring nervously at the principal when he suddenly caught a look from him.
"Why is the principal here? Wasn't he supposed to arrive this afternoon?" someone who had just spotted him shouted.
"Yeah, and all those experts. We rarely see them on campus," others added, growing tense. Getting the principal involved in something like this meant they were truly done for.
"Who's that guy next to the principal? He looks like a big deal," someone who noticed the important detail commented.
"Didn't you see? Even the principal is terrified of him." It was true—some people were just on a completely different level.
Another wave of whispers swept through the audience.
